WORKING CONDITIONS & LIVING WAGES 

Mini Rodini is a Fair Wear Foundation member and publishes living wage benchmarks for each country of production. The brand does not have its own production facilities but aims to maintain long-term relationships with a select group of suppliers and in 2024 53% of their orders were placed with factories they had worked with for over 10 years. Since 2014 Mini Rodini has been applying the Living Wage project to these factories. This allows the brand to check where there are still gaps in the payroll system and how they can fill them. The money that Mini Rodini uses for this comes from their own pocket. 

Mini Rodini also supports social causes through its Collections with a Cause initiative. It has collaborated with Sea Shepherd, Wildhood Foundation, and Galgos del Sol, donating 20% of sales revenue from these collections to support their missions in wildlife protection and animal welfare.

Most of the garments are made of GOTS-certified, organic materials. They prioritize monomaterials. Avoiding blends of plant-based and synthetic fibres within a product significantly simplifies subsequent recycling and promotes circularity. However, when using mixed fibres, Mini Rodini opts for GRS-certified recycled materials. In their 2023 Sustainability Report they state the only animal fiber they use is wool, which is sourced exclusively from GOTS or RWS certified farms. 

Mini Rodini does not explicitly mention microplastics or steps taken to reduce microplastic release in their synthetic outerwear. There is no known explicit strategy to minimise or compensate for this problem.

PACKAGING 

Mini Rodini takes care in its efforts to limit plastic use, implementing a No Virgin Plastic policy throughout its supply chain. For online orders, gift boxes are made from certified paper, and all cartons and paper materials used are sourced from certified, responsible sources. To protect garments during storage and shipping, the brand uses recycled plastic polybags.

While these efforts show attention to material sourcing, Mini Rodini does not disclose whether packaging is fully recyclable or compostable.

WATER USAGE & CHEMICALS 

The brand works to reduce harmful chemical use in its production. They established a restricted substances list using the EU’s REACH list as a baseline. Mini Rodini requires regular audits at its factories to ensure proper chemical handling and worker safety. 

To stay aligned with industry best practices, Mini Rodini is a member of The Chemical Group by RISE, a Swedish platform focused on improving chemical management in textiles. As GOTS and GRS certified products are part of the collection, it can be assumed that these processes comply with certain environmental standards. 

CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN 

Mini Rodini often uses mono-materials including organic cotton, certified wool and recycled polyester. Since 2013, they introduced an ​‘Upcycling Collections’ initiative repurposing leftover fabrics which they state has saved 18 tonnes of waste fabric. These efforts are part of their broader strategy to minimize waste and reduce their environmental impact.

The brand does not currently offer a formal repair service for worn-out clothing.

CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODELS 

In 2023 they launched Mini Rodini Second Hand. a resale platform in partnership with reCRQL. This peer-to-peer service allows customers to buy and sell pre-loved garments, recirculating clothing among customers.

TRANSPORTATION 

Mini Rodini has a policy against air freight for incoming shipments and primarily uses sea and road freight to Sweden to reduce carbon emissions. They acknowledge outbound e‑commerce shipments are air freighted and are seeking alternatives.

The brand uses only RWS and GOTS certified wool in their collections. They explicitly exclude leather, fur, feathers, down, angora, suede, exotic skins, angora wool, virgin acrylic, and conventional viscose.

PRODUCT DESIGN

Mini Rodini designs children’s garments, putting an emphasis on monomaterials and natural fibres to support product longevity. 

SLOW FASHION PROCESSES 

In 2024, the brand released 9 collections throughout the year. While this cadence is higher than traditional slow fashion standards, the brand maintains fixed selling periods and strict release deadlines for its wholesale business, helping to reduce overproduction.

Material composition and production country are clearly listed on all product pages. The brand does not provide individual product traceability down to the factory or production batch, meaning there are no details about the specific workshop or when the item was produced.

Mini Rodini provides basic information about its own processes and long-standing production partners on its website. The content is mainly found in general texts. They publicly share information on their supplier management, living wage policies, chemical safety, material sourcing and supply chain traceability efforts on its website. They also publish annual Sustainability and Social Impact Reports.
