At Remake Society, social and environmental value are at the heart of everything they do. Remake Society creates a more circular chain that works. They collaborate with municipalities, educational institutions, and businesses. Companies reuse their own textiles and open up new markets. Municipalities connect them with candidates who know textile craft but are not yet participating in the labor market. Educational institutions provide interns who learn from professionals while also improving their Dutch language skills on the job. Together, this forms an ecosystem where everyone gives and takes — driving more circular impact and social inclusion.
Founded by Esther Smit, a social entrepreneur passionate about sustainability and social value, Remake Society combines entrepreneurial drive with purpose. Esther was named Rotterdam Businesswoman of the Year in 2024 and previously achieved a world top‑3 B Corp score (173 points) with her company Oxious.
We are the one-stop shop for companies that want to turn textile surplus into circular and social impact: Repair, Repurpose & Regulation.
Through the Remake Society Academy, they train people who have never had the chance to earn a degree. In collaboration with Albeda College Rotterdam, they support newcomers and mothers on welfare to learn textile crafts. With practical training in repair and reuse, plus Dutch language skills, they graduate after a year as certified Fashion Tailors with an MBO‑2 diploma—ready to become the engine of the circular economy.
At Remake Society, everyone participates in a more circular economy—extending the life of textiles, reducing waste, and building a stronger community.
