A snowsuit in size 80, the dungarees an older sibling has already outgrown, a stack of picture books: at HejLili on Aachener Straße in Düsseldorf-Bilk, children’s clothes and toys find their next family. The kids’ second-hand and concept store stocks pre-loved clothing for babies and children in sizes 44 to 176, along with maternity wear, womenswear and accessories. In total, the range covers more than 4,500 items, from shoes and toys to prams. The store has existed since 2005, for many years under the name Klammotte Bilk. Today, owner Lara runs it, taking over the business and giving it a new name and her own concept.

Lara studied philosophy and sociology and worked at an agency for several years before making her wish for her own shop come true. When Klammotte Bilk was looking for a successor, she seized the opportunity. After a year of settling in and trying things out, the store became HejLili and developed its own character. What many families here value has stayed: a child-friendly store where parents can browse in peace while the little ones look around. What is new is the mix of pre-loved fashion and carefully selected new items that makes HejLili a concept store.

For new items, HejLili works with brands such as Lässig, Nellie&Finn, Wollbebi, Rockahula, Nuuk, Guapoo, Leevje, Playshoes and Orangenkinder. The second-hand stock comes from local families and is sold on consignment. To consign, book an appointment online and bring up to 60 washed, flawless garments or complete games, puzzles, and books. Spring and summer items are accepted from February, autumn and winter items from August. After four months, 40 per cent of the selling price is paid out, and anything that hasn’t sold can be collected or donated to SOS-Kinderdorf Düsseldorf. For selected kids’ brands such as Mini Rodini, Konges Sløjd, Bobo Choses, or Engel, you can drop off items on Wednesdays without an appointment, and larger items are handled through the HejLili Select service.

Looking for kids’ second-hand or pre-loved maternity wear in Düsseldorf without battling through overflowing bargain bins? HejLili accepts only well-kept pieces in as-new condition and takes branded goods only as originals. About 200 new items arrive every day, and the Instagram channel shows what has just come in. This page lists opening hours and the price range; on Wednesdays, the store is closed for sales. That is how HejLili supports families from pregnancy through the teenage years, with clothes that still have plenty of wear left.
