That journey between two cities is what gives ÏMAIMA its look. Berlin’s creative scene meets Middle Eastern and Indian textile traditions, creating calm, considered clothing for people who care more about craft and heritage than the next trend. Pieces like the Lale dress or the Golbahar top show it best: simple lines, rich texture, and hand embroidery you can actually see up close.
So what’s it all made of? Mostly hand-woven cotton from Jaipur, combined with LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose and a handful of upcycled details. ECOVERO™ is a branded viscose fibre that holds the EU Ecolabel, the EU’s official environmental label. According to its maker, Lenzing, the wood and pulp come from certified or controlled sources, and the fibre is produced with at least 50% less water and half the carbon emissions of generic viscose (source: https://www.ecovero.com/newsroom/responsibility-is-in-our-essence-lenzing-ecovero-strengthens-its-brand-identity).
Behind the clothes is a production partnership that started small. What began as a little team of artisans grew, through years of direct collaboration, into ÏMAIMA’s dedicated manufacturing base in India. Founder Bahhareh wanted more than nice garments. That’s why ÏMAIMA names and credits the artisans behind each piece, and works within the prices the artisans set themselves instead of negotiating them down. Fashion with faces and fair numbers: that’s the ÏMAIMA way.
