Gosling Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster from Amsterdam, founded in 2016 by barista-turned-entrepreneur Bonnie van Poortvliet. What sets the brand apart is its dedication to direct trade: Bonnie and her team buy coffee directly from small-scale producers in countries like Uganda, Peru, Rwanda, Tanzania and Colombia, ensuring both a fair income and strong relationships with the farmers.
This transparent model allows farmers to earn a livable income — far above the global commodity price of coffee — and gives Gosling control over quality from bean to cup. Beans are then carefully roasted in-house at their Amsterdam roastery, resulting in the highest-quality specialty coffee with integrity.
Driven by the motto “awesome coffee, happy farmers,” the brand invests in its partners through regular on-site visits, training, and even tangible support like coffee-processing equipment or school supplies for communities. From delicious home brews to cafe-quality orders and wholesale partnerships, every cup connects you back to the hands that grew it — and to a fairer global coffee culture.
There will also be a Gosling Coffee pop-up bar on Overtoom in Amsterdam in 2025! You can visit here for a delicious cup of coffee until the end of October. At the Weesp location, you can pick up a bag of beans to put your barista skills to the test at home.
