Making sustainable lifestyles more accessible to all
To Maya and Pablo, the founders of De Groene Stadshut, sustainability is not a buzzword. For them, sustainable and conscious living is the future and they hope to spread this message as far and wide as possible.
A few years ago, the couple started a blog where they shared their sustainable lifestyle journey. The result of that adventure is their shop, De Groene Stadshut: a cosy sustainable gift shop in the centre of Antwerp. They offer all kinds of environmentally-friendly products from local and artisanal businesses. They'll happily help you find sustainable alternatives to everyday products such as natural deodorants packaged in cork, books, zero waste cosmetics,... You’ll also find children’s coats, handmade in Antwerp from surplus fabrics.
If you like to get to work yourself, then make sure you visit one of the workshops hosted by Maya. These are available in person in small groups or online due to Corona measures. Join one and learn how to make your own soap, or a basket from old bike tyres! You're sure to be inspired by Maya's passion for sustainability and you'll have fun in the process.
Their latest project, BiVT Eco Bouw Consulting, focuses on sustainability in the construction industry. They provide smart energy and water advice for new buildings and renovations that are looking to preserve the future. They also run a small renovations and painting company. Their core values are sustainability, good quality, reasonable pricing and good working conditions.
If you're in Antwerp, be sure to pass by De Groene Stadshut and get inspired to live more sustainably, or take part in one of their eco-living workshops!
