DSFW Swapping with The Swapshop in Rotterdam is the feel-good way of shopping
The Swapshop has become a well-known institution in Rotterdam: in this pop-up clothing exchange store, you can swap your clothes instead of buying new ones. This gives your former favourites a new lease on life and reduces your environmental impact by choosing to swap instead of buying new. The concept is incredibly simple: you can bring in a maximum of 5 items per visit and receive ‘swaps’ (points) in return. With these swaps, you get a 50% discount on the selling price of all items in their collection. Over the past year, The Swapshop has saved approximately 13,000 fashion items from the textile waste pile through its swappers, equivalent to preventing about 43,458 kg of CO2-equivalent emissions. This is equivalent to the emissions from 222 flights from Amsterdam to Copenhagen.
Come to the Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week Experience Center in Rotterdam between October 5th and 11th, bring your excess clothing, and leave with a variety of new outfits.
