On 12 November, the goldsmith’s atelier in Ghent hosts a workshop on the lost-wax technique, a 3‑hour introduction to carving jewellery in wax. Participants make a wax model of a ring, either fully their own design or built step by step from a provided example, learning to saw and file wax, add texture or achieve a mirror-smooth finish, melt, carve, engrave, and create small spheres.
Each participant works at their own pace, and the small group size allows for individual guidance on personal designs. No experience is needed, though those training as goldsmiths are also welcome to deepen their skills.
Important to know: the price covers the wax-carving workshop only, not the cost of casting the finished design in silver (or gold). Casting is billed separately based on the ring’s weight, typically around €35 but ranging roughly €15 – 65 depending on the design; the finished ring is ready for pickup at the atelier a few weeks later.
