Have you ever thought about combining riso print with embroidery? Are you ready to explore different types of media and mix them with one another?
This FULL DAY workshop will be so much fun! Riso Pop and Studio Koekoek have joined creative forces, offering a special program. You will get the best of both worlds: a taste of the Riso printing technique as well as embroidery skills. During the day you will be encouraged to draw inspiration from one design and use it as a starting point for the other.
This collaboration with our partner Riso Print is a wonderful opportunity to expand your skill set while enjoying the unique environment of both studios in Amsterdam. This workshop is for everyone who would like to step out of their comfort zone, experiment and try things out without pressure.
We’ve got you covered with all the materials, plus some delicious drinks and snacks. All you need to do is bring your enthusiasm and love for nature!

Riso print & embroidery workshop day overview
Morning at Riso Pop 10:00 – 13:00
The day starts at the Riso Pop studio, where we will have a nice collection of botanical inspiration ready for you! We will use small drawing exercises to help you come up with a design. You will also get an extensive introduction to the risograph printer, getting familiar with the technique before you start working on your design. At the end of the morning, you will have your very own collection of botanical riso prints that you can share with friends and family!
13:00 – 14:00
Change of studios! On the way to Studio Koekoek, you will have time to stop for lunch (not included).
Afternoon at Studio Koekoek 14:00 – 17:00
The afternoon session continues at Studio Koekoek. Here, you will be transforming your print (or one from your fellow participants) into an embroidery design. You will learn which factors to consider when working with textiles. Feel free to either closely replicate your riso design or take inspiration from its colours and shapes to create a completely different embroidery piece. We help you select the most suitable stitch and thread colours. After that, you’ll have time to start your embroidery project.
At the end of this day, you will take home: a set of 10 riso prints with your design and an embroidery piece to finish at home.
