Workshop: Kintsugi – Golden Connection
Kintsugi, literally translated as golden connection, is the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken pottery using glue mixed with gold powder. The break and repair are not hidden but emphasized, allowing the fracture to tell its story. Beauty emerges from imperfection.
During this workshop, you will get to work with a kintsugi set in silver or gold. You will first consciously and mindfully repair something broken and transform it into a renewed piece for your interior. In this way, you emphasize the imperfection of a piece. It is ideal for letting go of a specific frustration, event, or emotion and channeling it into a beautiful result. It is the perfect moment to pause and reflect on the process, the journey you are taking, and to see how something can grow into something beautiful.
Do I need creative talent?
You absolutely do not need any experience for this! Anyone can create a beautiful and unique piece without needing any talent.
Can I bring my own item to repair? If you have something lying around at home that you would like to repair, be sure to bring it along! Please keep its size in mind – the workshop lasts two hours, and it might be easier to get started with a smaller item if it is your first time. Don’t have anything at home yourself? Then we will provide objects that could use some love and want to be repaired.
Can I take my finished creation home immediately?
Of course! You can take your piece home to display in your interior, give as a gift to someone, or as a memento of the process you just went through ;-)
Can children participate?
In principle, anyone aged 12 and up can participate.
