PRODUCTIONLOCATIONS
- Arnhem, Netherlands
- India (only for the cotton)
Production at Suski Store takes place in the Netherlands. The advantage lies in short transport routes, high legal social and labour standards, and close monitoring by the brand itself.
The collection is handmade in Arnhem in small quantities, ensuring that each piece is unique. Suski Store uses textiles safeguarded by the Fair Wear Foundation, as well as recycled, second-hand, or leftover fabrics from local cycles.
The structures are manageable. There is only one external supplier for the cotton blanks.
MATERIALS
- GOTS-certified organic cotton, Fair Wear certified
- Recycled materials
- Second-hand materials
- Leftover fabrics from local sources
The organic cotton is GOTS-certified and, according to the company, produced climate neutrally. Compared to conventional cotton, it is more sustainable as it requires less water during cultivation and avoids harmful chemicals. In addition, Fair Wear Foundation standards help to ensure fairer working conditions. Read more here about the benefits of organic cotton.
For second-hand and recycled fabrics, no new raw materials are cultivated or produced. Reuse prevents waste and extends the lifecycle of existing materials.
Even though Suski Store uses recycled fabrics and leftover materials for many of its pieces, raw cotton forms the basis of most products. This means that the majority of the fibers are made from new cotton.
PACKAGING
Suski Store uses REPACK packaging for shipping, a system that enables the reuse of shipping materials and thus reduces single-use waste while supporting the circular economy. In addition, the brand relies on already available packaging materials, including bubble wrap, creating a more resource-efficient alternative to conventional shipping boxes.
WATERUSAGE & CHEMICALS
The organic cotton used is GOTS-certified, which enforces stricter guidelines on water consumption, chemical management, and dyeing methods. This ensures less water waste and the avoidance of hazardous pesticides and harmful bleaching agents. Furthermore, the cotton fibres are produced climate neutrally, according to the company.
With recycled and second-hand fabrics, no additional water or chemicals are required for cultivation or production, as existing materials are reused.
CIRCULAR PRODUCTDESIGN
Most Suski Store products consist of mono-fibres, which generally makes them easier to recycle. Many garments feature appliqué work, which can be detached if needed, keeping the majority of the product recyclable.
A take-back service is not offered.
The brand relies on upcycling and the reuse of deadstock, which strengthens the uniqueness of the pieces but also makes recycling more complex later on.
As the products are handmade and individually crafted, repair is generally possible.
CIRCULAR BUSINESSMODELL
Suski Store does not currently offer a repair service. Nor does it provide a take-back service or other circular business models. Instead, the brand focuses on upcycling, second-hand, and deadstock materials in production, extending the use of available resources.
