Sisterhood Vintage produces its jewellery in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, benefiting from high social standards and strict labour laws. Local production ensures short supply chains, direct oversight, and transparency throughout the process.

All jewellery is handmade in the brand’s own atelier, highlighting craftsmanship and individuality. Since production takes place exclusively in-house, Sisterhood Vintage does not work with typical suppliers. Materials are mainly sourced from second-hand sources and two wholesalers of recycled metals.

Sisterhood Vintage primarily uses repurposed materials such as vintage glass and freshwater pearls, avoiding the need for new raw materials. The brand is currently transitioning from gold- and silver-plated surgical steel to recycled silver and gold-plated recycled silver to strengthen circularity.

By using second-hand and recycled materials, resources are conserved, and environmental impact is significantly reduced.

PACKAGING

• Sisterhood Vintage reuses bubble wrap from incoming shipments for packaging its own orders. The jewellery is packed in small organza bags, sourced second-hand.
• For online orders, the label uses letterbox-sized mailers to minimise packaging volume. For Amsterdam-based customers, the jewellery is handed over in person, eliminating the need for additional packaging.

WATER USAGE & CHEMICALS

According to Sisterhood Vintage, no water- or chemical-intensive production processes are used.

CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN 

Sisterhood Vintage’s jewellery combines different materials, including vintage glass beads, freshwater pearls, and metal components (gold- or silver-plated surgical steel). This means the pieces are not monomaterial, but they can be easily disassembled, allowing components to be reused or reworked.

The brand works with upcycled materials, particularly vintage glass beads that are cleaned and repurposed, thereby extending the life of existing materials and reducing the need for new production.

Sisterhood Vintage does not have a formal take-back programme but accepts pieces upon request for cleaning and reuse. The brand also offers a repair service, allowing customers to send or bring in their jewellery for repair.

To avoid overproduction, unsold pieces are disassembled and redesigned.

CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODELL

Sisterhood Vintage does not operate an official take-back programme but accepts jewellery upon request to clean, reuse, or redesign it. The brand offers a repair service: customers can send or bring their pieces to the atelier for restoration. As all jewellery is handmade from reused materials, damaged parts can easily be replaced or reworked.

• For shipping, Sisterhood Vintage uses standard parcel delivery. Amsterdam customers can collect or receive their jewellery in person, reducing additional transport emissions.

The freshwater pearls used in Sisterhood Vintage jewellery are sourced from second-hand items such as old jewellery or unused deadstock. Their exact origin cannot be fully determined.
