Nice to meet you, Solange
Thanks to her grandmother and mother, Solange Cools got the knitting microbe from an early age. What was a hobby as a young girl has now become her job. Solange started her brand in 2015 and since then she makes hand knitted and timeless scarves, tops, cardigans,… She also has a small interior collection with coarsely knitted cushions and beanbags. Scarves & Stuff is warm, sustainable accessories that are designed and made from needle to thread by Solange Cools.
All natural
In order to make her brand as high quality as possible, Solange only uses the best and most natural materials. There are garments made of natural materials, such as cotton, organic cotton and flax. The animal materials are alpaca, mohair, cashmere, merino wool, sheep’s wool, virgin wool and silk. She also works with leftover fabrics and threads.
Where and who?
Solange gets all her knitting yarns from Lang, a German family business with a factory in Italy. Here the employees get a fair wage and they also work in good working conditions. The origin of her yarn can also be traced back to the country where the animals are bred. Her wool comes from Peru, Scandinavia and England.
“I attach great importance to the deontological basis within the production process. This is a working method that is often hard to find with the big players. If I can use my brand to raise awareness among a younger generation, then I have succeeded in my mission,” says Solange. Solange still makes the garments herself with the help of her mother.
Circular?
The garments are usually knitted from the same natural fabric. That makes it very easy to recycle the piece. Yes!
