WORKING CONDITIONS & LIVING WAGES 

Nudie Jeans states that they have close dialogues with their suppliers, and visited 80% of them in 2024. They state that they have continued to support living wage payments at selected suppliers, and have ambitions to fulfil living wage payments for prioritised suppliers by 2030. 

Nudie Jeans also states that they ensure all suppliers have documented high social, ethical, and environmental ambitions, and have signed their Code of Conduct. Nudie Jeans have been members of Fair Wear Foundation since 2009. The brand states that this membership allows them to build stable relationships with suppliers and effectively monitor working conditions.

93% of Nudie Jeans fibre use in 2024 was cotton, and the brand ensures that this is always organic and/​or Fairtrade, re-used, or recycled. Nudie Jeans recently became GOTS certified, and released their first certified products in Spring 2025. 

PACKAGING 

Nudie Jeans has eliminated plastic shopping bags in their physical stores, and all bags and gift boxes used in their Repair Shops are made from FSC-certified and recycled paper. 

Products ordered online are delivered in plastic bags made from around 40 – 80% recycled plastics and 60 – 20% virgin plastics. Nudie Jeans states that they have examined alternatives but have decided that recycled and recyclable plastic is currently the best option, as biodegradable materials can be difficult to properly dispose of. 

WATER USAGE & CHEMICALS 

The vast majority of Nudie Jeans products are made with organic and/​or Fairtrade, reused, or recycled cotton. Organic cotton is grown without artificial fertilizers or pesticides, and requires less water to produce. Using recycled and re-used cotton also helps Nudie Jeans to reduce their water and chemical usage. 

Nudie Jeans states that they only work with suppliers that have proper water treatment plants. The majority of their denim fabric suppliers are also GOTS certified, to help ensure proper chemical management. 

Nudie Jeans states that they are aiming to increase their use of vegetable-tanned leather, to decrease the amount of chemicals used. 

CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN 

The majority of Nudie Jeans products are monomaterials, meaning that they are easier to recycle at the end of their lifespan. Their tight fit jeans are made with a small percentage of elastane, for a more comfortable fit.

Every pair of Nudie Jeans comes with the promise of free repairs forever. With repair stores located across Europe, Asia, Oceania, and North America, extending the life of your jeans has never been easier! 

Nudie Jeans also offers a trade-in service, in exchange for 20% off your next denim purchase. If possible, these jeans are washed, repaired if needed, and sold again in their Re-use range. They are otherwise recycled and used for patching material. 

The recycled cotton used in Nudie Jeans is produced from both post-consumer Nudie Jeans products and pre-consumer recycled cotton from their factories’ waste streams.

Nudie Jeans has a complex supply chain, with over 100 suppliers across 20 countries. Their headquarters are located in Goteburg, Sweden, and they offer worldwide shipping.

Nudie Jeans has published an Animal Welfare Policy, and provides further information on their fibre usage in their sustainability report. 

Their Animal Welfare Policy states that all leather used is a by-product of the food industry. A gold-rated classification from the Leather Working Group is required for all leather producers located outside Europe. 

Nudie Jeans states that recycled wool is prioritised when possible. In 2024, the majority of wool used in Nudie Jeans products was certified GOTS or RWS virgin wool, closely followed by recycled wool. 

Nudie Jeans states that any merino wool is certified mulesing-free. Mulesing is a controversial practice where a small portion of the sheep’s skin is removed to prevent parasitic infestations. 

Only GOTS-certified silk or Peace silk is used in Nudie Jeans products. Peace silk is a cruelty-free alternative to conventional silk, in which the silkworms are allowed to complete their full lifecycle. 

PRODUCT DESIGN 

Nudie Jeans offers men’s and women’s wear. Their jeans have waist sizes from 24 to 38, and lengths from 28 to 36. Other garments have sizes from XS to XL. Nudie Jeans also offers a small range of accessories to complete your look! 

SLOW FASHION PROCESSES 

Nudie Jeans states that they aim to minimise the volume of unsold products and deadstock. At the end of the season, unsold garments are sent back to the warehouse, where they are primarily sold online in sales periods.

Excess fabric from production is often used in future collections, and Nudie Jeans’ website has a collection of limited edition pieces made from deadstock fabric. Alternatively, their excess fabric is sold through the platform Rekotex so that it can be used by other companies.

Nudie Jeans aims to provide full product transparency. Each product page lists what materials were used, including for the haberdashery, and the full production process is outlined so you can know exactly where your product was produced.

On each product page, Nudie Jeans breaks down the entire production process, from raw material sourcing to their warehouse in Sweden. This tool allows users to see which production facilities were involved in making their garment, their locations, and whether they have been visited by Nudie Jeans. Nudie Jeans also highlights the emissions and water used for the production of each garment. 

Nudie Jeans has published a full list of suppliers, including their addresses. They also publish an annual report on the social and environmental aspects of their brand.
