This is the first project created by and for canyoners in Spain, with a team made up of five professionals in the sector, all with more than 20 years of experience in canyoning, responsible for the development, testing and validation of the product in order to achieve the best possible equipment.
They produce in Spain, locally and KM0, in local factories and workshops in Valencia and Barcelona.
Newex offers an alternative to the traditional neoprene wetsuit derived from petroleum and highly polluting, replacing it with natural rubber. A material of vegetable origin, which is produced in a sustainable way from renewable rubber tree forests, capable of reducing CO2 emissions by more than 95% per hour in the production processes.
The newex suit is constructed in 4/3mm with natural rubber, or as they call it, with low density “ecoprene”, thus matching the thermal capacity of a 5/4mm suit and the flexibility of a 3/2mm suit, making it more versatile for use during most of the season.
Newex is a circular brand. They recycle and reuse more than 10 tonnes of textile waste, avoiding waste and pollution.
Its commitment to circularity is based on research and development to reconvert these products at the end of their useful life, reintroducing them into the value chain.
5% of the proceeds from its 2023 collection will go towards the implementation of a recycling project in collaboration with the non-profit organisation CASAL CLARET. The aim of this project is to promote the employment of women at risk of social exclusion and the reuse of ecoprene textile waste derived from production, as well as other neoprene products of textile origin to avoid waste, and give them a second life by turning them into; computer cases, ecoprene strips for glasses, textile labels, key rings, or other reused products.
In addition, Newex is committed to continue advancing in the search for solutions for the recycling of Ecoprene in all its forms in order to reach its goal of zero waste.
The raw material for Newex’s ecoprene, i.e. natural rubber, comes from Thailand via a distributor in Italy, and it is all produced locally in family-run workshops in Valencia and Barcelona. Therefore, Newex has a short production chain and, thanks to the fact that production is carried out in Spain and in family-run workshops, they ensure that working conditions are good.
Newex ecoprene is completely vegan. They are plant-based, made from renewable rubber tree forests.
In Newex, they have been applying research and development processes for more than 3 years and are still continuing, as their aim is to develop the highest quality equipment possible for canyoners.
In addition, they work by pre-sale campaigns, that is, they produce on demand “OnDemad”, a much more sustainable way. They produce only those products previously purchased during the campaign, thus avoiding large quantities of overstock and the consequent pollutant footprint derived from their activity.
Newex is a transparent brand. The COSH! team was able to talk to the founders, and they have provided us with the names of their suppliers, and they ensure social and environmental commitment.
They are also transparent with their 2023 pre-sale campaign costs! You can find more information about their pre-sale campaign on their website.
