Newex

This is the first pro­ject crea­ted by and for can­yo­ners in Spain, with a team made up of five pro­fes­sio­nals in the sec­tor, all with more than 20 years of expe­ri­ence in can­yo­ning, respon­si­ble for the deve­lo­p­ment, test­ing and vali­da­ti­on of the pro­duct in order to achie­ve the best pos­si­ble equip­ment.

They pro­du­ce in Spain, local­ly and KM0, in local fac­to­ries and work­shops in Valen­cia and Barcelona.

Newex offers an alter­na­ti­ve to the tra­di­tio­nal neo­pre­ne wetsu­it deri­ved from petro­le­um and high­ly pol­lu­ting, repla­cing it with natu­ral rub­ber. A mate­ri­al of vege­ta­ble ori­gin, which is pro­du­ced in a sus­tainable way from rene­wa­ble rub­ber tree forests, capa­ble of redu­cing CO2 emis­si­ons by more than 95% per hour in the pro­duc­tion processes.

The newex suit is con­s­truc­ted in 4/​3mm with natu­ral rub­ber, or as they call it, with low den­si­ty ​“eco­pre­ne”, thus matching the ther­mal capa­ci­ty of a 5/​4mm suit and the fle­xi­bi­li­ty of a 3/​2mm suit, making it more ver­sa­ti­le for use during most of the season.

Newex is a cir­cu­lar brand. They recy­cle and reu­se more than 10 ton­nes of tex­ti­le was­te, avo­i­ding was­te and pollution.

Its com­mit­ment to cir­cu­la­ri­ty is based on rese­arch and deve­lo­p­ment to recon­vert the­se pro­ducts at the end of their useful life, rein­tro­du­cing them into the value chain.

5% of the pro­ceeds from its 2023 coll­ec­tion will go towards the imple­men­ta­ti­on of a recy­cling pro­ject in col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with the non-pro­fit orga­ni­sa­ti­on CASAL CLA­RET. The aim of this pro­ject is to pro­mo­te the employ­ment of women at risk of social exclu­si­on and the reu­se of eco­pre­ne tex­ti­le was­te deri­ved from pro­duc­tion, as well as other neo­pre­ne pro­ducts of tex­ti­le ori­gin to avo­id was­te, and give them a second life by tur­ning them into; com­pu­ter cases, eco­pre­ne strips for glas­ses, tex­ti­le labels, key rings, or other reu­sed products.

In addi­ti­on, Newex is com­mit­ted to con­ti­nue advan­cing in the search for solu­ti­ons for the recy­cling of Eco­pre­ne in all its forms in order to reach its goal of zero waste.

The raw mate­ri­al for Newex’s eco­pre­ne, i.e. natu­ral rub­ber, comes from Thai­land via a dis­tri­bu­tor in Ita­ly, and it is all pro­du­ced local­ly in fami­ly-run work­shops in Valen­cia and Bar­ce­lo­na. The­r­e­fo­re, Newex has a short pro­duc­tion chain and, thanks to the fact that pro­duc­tion is car­ri­ed out in Spain and in fami­ly-run work­shops, they ensu­re that working con­di­ti­ons are good.

Newex eco­pre­ne is com­ple­te­ly vegan. They are plant-based, made from rene­wa­ble rub­ber tree forests.

In Newex, they have been app­ly­ing rese­arch and deve­lo­p­ment pro­ces­ses for more than 3 years and are still con­ti­nuing, as their aim is to deve­lop the hig­hest qua­li­ty equip­ment pos­si­ble for canyoners.

In addi­ti­on, they work by pre-sale cam­paigns, that is, they pro­du­ce on demand ​“OnDe­mad”, a much more sus­tainable way. They pro­du­ce only tho­se pro­ducts pre­vious­ly purcha­sed during the cam­paign, thus avo­i­ding lar­ge quan­ti­ties of over­stock and the con­se­quent pol­lutant foot­print deri­ved from their activity.
