LastObject was established by Isabel Aagaard, her brother Nicolas Aagaard, and Kåre Frandsen. Isabel Aagaard and her partners researched ocean pollutants and realised that cotton swabs were one of the most significant. In 2018, they came up with a reusable cotton swab named LastSwab.
LastObject is proudly B Corp certified, joining a global network of companies committed to making a positive impact. B Lab, the organization behind B Corp, aims to change the economy for the better by uniting these companies to influence over 150 industries across more than 80 countries.
On their website, they state that Inclusiveness and diversity is something they strongly believe in and work to create. They are a team of people with different backgrounds and nationalities, and strive for gender balance. They provide fair wages and a healthy work/life balance. Their suppliers must follow their Code of Conduct, which is based on the OECD Guidelines for multinational enterprises. This includes human and labour rights and environmental and anti-corruption principles.
Manufacturing is split between Denmark and China. When working with non-EU manufacturers, they only work with manufacturers that have SMETA (ethical audit) certificates. SMETA, developed by Sedex, is a leading ethical audit format globally, aimed at ensuring suppliers adhere to social responsibility standards.
