Ethics
Lamazuna only use natural ingredients from certified organic agriculture for their care products. In addition, the Slow Cosmétique label testifies to the ethical production of all cosmetics, hair care and bathroom products. Laetitia and her team of 47 employees are very proud of their exclusively vegan range. They have products suited to everyone! For example, if you have dry hair, their natural shampoo with coconut and vanilla scent is great, or if your hair is more oily then their grass-scented shampoo will suit you better.
Planet
Every time you buy a set of Lamazuna Mochi-Mochi fabric handkerchiefs, the brand gives one euro to the Surfrider Foundation. This non-profit organisation is committed to helping keep the oceans and beaches clean. Every month Lamazuna also donates 500€ to a non-profit organisation of your choice. Amazing!
Circular economy
To avoid waste, Lamazuna only produces dry products such as shampoo bars, shaving bars, cocoa butter, solid toothpaste and deodorant. These solid products do not require plastic packaging like their liquid counterparts do (shampoo, shower gel,…). All the packaging used by Lamazuna is made from recycled and recyclable material.
Lamazuna have also developed a TerraCycle Zero Waste Box to ensure that the toothbrush heads and cleaning wipes can be perfectly recycled. All you need to do is print a prepaid label off their website which you can then stick on an envelope to return the used products in – completely free of charge! They require you to send at least 3 toothbrush heads or 7 cleaning wipes at a time. To recycle the toothbrush heads, they separate the nylon bristles from the plastic base. The nylon is then used to make insulation material and after processing, the plastic is sold back to manufacturers of plastic items such as tables or chairs. In this way, your used toothbrush gets a second life.
Supply chain
All products are made in France. It is not entirely clear who the suppliers are however so COSH! will find out for you.
In addition to their offices, Lamazuna has set up an eco-site project with a permaculture garden. Their dream is to one day be able to only use solar panels for electricity and have a crèche for their staff’s children.
Animal wellbeing
All Lamazuna products are vegan and have not been tested on animals, which is guaranteed by the Cruelty Free label.
BUT! Lamazuna is sold in Hong Kong and Taiwan. This is potentially problematic because when a brand exports its products to China, it gives China permission to test on animals. If a cosmetics company has a head office, a shop or even just resellers in China, then their products are most likely tested on animals. If a brand is sold in Hong Kong, there is a lower chance of this, but there is no way of tracing whether Lamazuna products are then exported from Hong Kong to China. It is therefore impossible to say with 100% certainty that none of Lamazuna’s products are tested on animals.
