The search for the finest natural ingredients led Hej Organic to the incredible power of prickly pear seed oil. Working closely with their producers, they crafted the Cactus line, harnessing its nourishing and protective properties. By early 2021, they were ready to introduce their second skincare range, designed specifically for sensitive skin. What makes this range truly special? It’s made close to home! By sourcing ingredients from Europe — mainly Germany — and ensuring climate-neutral production, they’ve reduced CO₂ emissions across the entire supply chain.
Building on this success, the brand launched their third range, Naked, in May 2022—a dedicated collection for oily, blemished, and combination skin.
Instead of using perfume, the brand uses essential oils, tested and allergy-reducing to avoid skin irritations.
With every product, they stay true to their philosophy: certified natural cosmetics that bring out your skin’s natural glow. The brand says no to synthetic ingredients and yes to the power of nature — because skincare should be kind to both you and the planet.
Packaging
Hej Organic believes that beauty shouldn’t come at the expense of the planet. That’s why they carefully consider their packaging choices — from cosmetic containers to shipping materials—to minimise waste and environmental impact.
The brand’s folding cartons are made from 100% recycled paper, giving old fibres a new life. Because recycled paper can vary in texture and appearance, no two cartons look exactly the same — but they believe sustainability matters more than perfection!
Water usage
The brand believes in pure, skin-friendly formulas that are as kind to the environment as they are to you. That’s why their products are free from PEGs, SLS, parabens, synthetic colourants and fragrances, paraffins, silicones, and mineral oils. Plus, by using certified organic ingredients, the brand helps reduce water pollution caused by synthetic chemicals in conventional cosmetics.
Hej Organic’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond ingredients. The brand is proud to be certified by NATRUE, the Vegan Society, and PETA, ensuring their products meet the highest standards for natural, cruelty-free, and vegan beauty. In addition, their partnership with ClimatePartner has allowed us to take a huge step towards climate neutrality. Since no product can be entirely CO₂-free, the brand works to minimise their footprint and balance out unavoidable emissions by investing in global climate protection projects. From reforestation in Nicaragua to water purification in India and efforts to create plastic-free oceans, they’re actively contributing to a healthier planet.
NOTE: Water usage/pollution down to the raw materials is generally impossible to track for cosmetic products.
Circular packaging design
Hej Organic believes packaging should do more than just hold a product — it should be part of a circular system that reduces waste and maximises recyclability. That’s why the brand focuses on using recycled materials and clear recycling instructions to keep packaging in the loop.
The bottles are made from 87% recycled materials, combining 44% industrial recycled glass and 43% post-consumer recycled glass, giving old materials a second life. For tubes, the brand uses 100% recycled aluminium, a material that can be endlessly recycled without losing quality. The labels are crafted from 80% calcium carbonate (stone dust) and 20% high-density recycled polyethylene—requiring zero tree cutting, zero water, and zero bleach. This stone foil label can be easily recycled in the plastic waste system.
To make disposal simple and effective, the brand provides clear recycling instructions for every component. The glass bottles should be disposed of in the brown glass bank, while labels, pumps, and outer packaging can go into plastic or paper recycling as appropriate. Pipettes should be placed in residual waste, and even the eye patch fleece can go into organic waste!
The brand also offers refillable options for products like shampoo, hand soap, and shower gel, helping to cut down on single-use packaging and reduce overall waste. While we they don’t offer a takeback system for used containers, their partnership with Plastic Bank allows them to contribute to a global recycling initiative that turns plastic waste into valuable raw materials.

At Hej Organic, animal welfare is at the heart of everything they do. That’s why they are proud to say that every single one of their products is 100% vegan and cruelty-free—no compromises, no exceptions. The formulas rely entirely on plant-based active ingredients, oils, and lipids, ensuring that nature provides everything your skin needs without harming animals.
To guarantee full transparency, the brand has partnered with The Vegan Society and PETA Approved, two of the most trusted certifications in ethical beauty. Unlike some certifications that apply to an entire brand, The Vegan Society examines every product individually, verifying that each formula is completely free from animal-derived ingredients before awarding its Vegan symbol. This rigorous process means you can shop with confidence, knowing that their commitment to vegan and cruelty-free beauty is real, verified, and unwavering.
Product design
Hej Organic produces products for sensitive, normal, combination, dry, mature and blemished skin. Products are sold individually or in sets and range from skincare to haircare.
The brand offers sales.
Transparency on product
The brand details its ingredients on each product page and sometimes also details the materials used for packaging.
Transparency on processes
Hej Organic believes that honesty and accountability are essential for truly sustainable beauty. That’s why the brand is open about their efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions throughout the entire product lifecycle — from sourcing raw materials to shipping the final product. While complete CO₂-free production isn’t possible, the brand is actively working to minimise their footprint and offset unavoidable emissions through our partnership with Climate Partner.
Transparency in the cosmetics industry remains largely unregulated. While the brand openly shares information about their sustainability efforts, their supply chain details and cost structures are not yet publicly available. Currently, the brand provides insights at a brand level rather than for specific products.
That being said, we believe their commitment to sustainability is real, and COSH! hopes they will share more details on their processes, suppliers, and impact — because conscious beauty starts with informed choices.
Conclusion
Hej Organic proves that natural skincare can be both effective and stylish. With vegan, cruelty-free, and more sustainable ingredients, bold designs, and a commitment to reducing CO₂ emissions, this German brand is setting new standards in eco-friendlier beauty. From moisturisers and serums to cleansers and body care, each product is crafted to nourish your skin naturally.
