gofluo works with a fair and transparent production process in collaboration with a Dutch company that operates production facilities in China. These facilities are inspected by a team from the Netherlands and Belgium to ensure that the production process on site meets social and environmental standards. The production facility has signed the Dutch Sustainable Garment and Textile Agreement, and the products are made under safe working conditions, where workers are protected and fairly compensated.
New employees participate in mandatory courses on environmental management. Additionally, they receive training in waste management, energy saving, and emission reduction.
High-visibility clothing is primarily made from fluorescent and reflective materials such as polyester and nylon. The reflective material complies with European standards. The Bodyglower is ISO 13688:2013 and EN 17353:2020 certified. Many items (based on neon colours) are approved according to the EN 1150 standard.
gofluo uses the more environmentally friendly TPU in some products, as it does not contain harmful or toxic chemicals. More ecological alternatives are used for trims and linings. Synthetic materials offer advantages such as durability, reflective properties, and water resistance, but they can also release microplastics, which can negatively impact both the environment and human health.
For shipping, uncoated, biodegradable cardboard envelopes are used, and more eco-friendly transport options are chosen.
In contrast to traditional safety vests, which are often seen as disposable items, every product from gofluo stands out for its thoughtful design focused on durability, ensuring it can accompany you for a lifetime. Many products are made from pure monofibres, while others use mixed fibres, which make recycling more difficult. Since these fibres are synthetic, there is a risk that they release microplastics, which can for example contaminate water, soil, and the food chain.
The production facility is located in China. From there, the goods are shipped to Berchem, where the gofluo showroom is located.
gofluo does not use any animal products.
The fabrics are timeless and durable, as they are tested for tear resistance, strength, sunlight and welding. Customers can find washing instructions for the individual products on the website to keep them in good condition.
The label communicates transparently that it is not yet possible to close the cycle completely, as only synthetic fabrics can be neon-coloured. Nevertheless, the Bodyglowers are designed to last and customers are encouraged to treat the products with care.
Conclusion
The Belgian label gofluo impresses with its innovative reflective textiles, which are not only modern, but also ensure safety on the roads. Perfect for the whole family, the label offers various products for men, women and children that are deliberately manufactured with durability in mind.
