Working Conditions & living wages
Production in Europe reduces transport distances and therefore the environmental impact. In addition, production in countries such as Portugal ensures compliance with strict EU labour guidelines, which guarantees fair working conditions and high production standards. Foekje Fleur’s proximity to its production sites allows it to maintain a close relationship with its suppliers and regularly check the quality and socially ethical standards of production in person.
The brand’s products are produced in small batches to ensure efficient material utilisation. Foekje Fleur co-operates with Sea Shepherd to combat plastic pollution on the coasts.
Materials
- Cotton
- Organic Cotton
The exclusive use of cotton as a natural fibre has several advantages: it is biodegradable, does not release microplastic particles during washing and therefore contributes to a lower environmental impact. Foekje Fleur consistently processes production waste – either organic cotton or conventional cotton.

Packaging
The products are shipped without plastic packaging, with exceptions only being made for the waterproof wrapping of pallets. Instead, recyclable material such as cardboard is used to minimise the environmental impact. These measures reflect the brand’s commitment to more sustainable practices.
Water usage & chemicals
The use of cotton remnants helps to conserve resources as no new cotton needs to be grown. In addition, the materials are already available and have been dyed and treated in previous processes, which minimises the use of additional resources and chemicals.
Circular product design
Foekje Fleur only uses mono-materials made from cotton for its products, which significantly improves their recyclability. By avoiding material blends, products are created that can be more easily returned to the material cycle.
The brand uses production remnants and deadstock materials, which reduces waste.
Circular business models
Foekje Fleur does not offer a special repair service for its products. However, the cotton products are generally easy to repair. The brand focuses on the longevity and quality of its products, which means that repairs are rarely necessary.
Defective products (e.g. with weaving or sewing faults) are not disposed of, but explicitly sold to ensure their use and avoid waste. Through these measures, Foekje Fleur demonstrates a strong commitment to the circular economy.

Production is based on small batches created from available leftover materials.
Transparency on product
The country of production, material and product details are stated on the product pages. However, precise information about the factory or the origin of the residual materials used is not disclosed, which limits transparency somewhat.
Transparency on processes
Materials and countries of production are listed on the product pages, while more detailed insights into the traceability of individual products are missing. The focus is on concrete measures, such as the use of residual materials and the reduction of plastic in the supply chain.
