Want to discover what fashion, circularity, and technology have to offer each other in Hasselt? On 16 March, COSH! organised a unique Fashion Tech Walk that introduced you to some of the country’s most progressive female fashion tech founders. Prefer to go out at another time? We mapped out the walking route for you below.
Contour Lab @Marie Méro
Contour Lab, created by Christina Hadinoto, is a software system for online shops. Her software helps you pick out the right pieces by taking into account different body types and other physical characteristics, such as hair and eye colour. How exactly does it work? You simply visit the Marie Méro webshop and fill in a short questionnaire. The application then automatically selects the pieces that best suit your sizes and colours. That way, you no longer have to filter manually, you save time, and you only come across items that genuinely suit you!
COSH! and Contour Lab both share the same mission: to make the fashion industry more sustainable. Contour Lab does so by focusing on inclusiveness. By providing advice on how consumers can shop better, we help webshops minimise returns. Christina Hadinoto, founder of Contour Lab
Yuka app @My Melonade
Do you also fail to see the forest for the trees when it comes to ‘clean beauty’? The Yuka app will help you with that. You can scan the ingredient list of your cosmetics product and Yuka will give you information on possible allergens and health risks. Be sure to visit My Melonade in Hasselt to test the app! The driving force behind My Melonade, Anke, is an experienced fashion stylist who is happy to guide you in choosing not only make-up, but also more eco-friendly fashion items. In short: everything for a colourful, radiant look!
BCome @KNAP
The international traceability tool BCome gives you more insights into the environmental impact of your clothing. Besides a cradle-to-gate analysis, you can also request information per item on the number of people and factories involved in the product journey. Curious about more transparent brands? At KNAP, you can already find Thinking Mu and SKFK, for which you can retrieve BCome data. KNAP is a natural hairdresser where you can get personal advice for your hair, skin, and outfit. They use Hairborist hair products and have second-hand items in their range, as well as more sustainable clothing brands.
Dressr @Suitsherwell
Dressr is a Belgian clothing library that gives you access to a curated collection of designer clothes from designers such as Ida & Volta, Lies Mertens and BYBROWN . When you are a member of Dressr, you can also benefit from a repair service and discounts. The clothing bib also collaborates with dry cleaner Voss to prepare clothes for their next use, while maintaining the highest quality and hygiene. A bonus: you can use your ecocheques to pay at Dressr!
Caroline Baeten, founder of Dressr, demonstrated her digital clothing library at Suitsherwell. There you will find timeless, minimalist tailored suits for women, made out of deadstock designer fabrics. Founded in 2021, the brand by sisters Gloria and Mandy stands for inclusivity, quality, and affordability. Suitsherwell is not only a fashion label, but also a community that stands for openness, equality and female empowerment. You go girls!
The Acquired @La Bottega
Lynn Mikolajczak designed a digital wardrobe assistant that helps you better organise your wardrobe. The Acquired app supports you in how to make the most of the garments you already have, allowing you to shop smarter for pieces you will effectively wear. This is not only better for your wallet, but also for the planet.
During the Fashion Tech Walk, Lynn demonstrated her app at La Bottega, a household name in the city of Hasselt. Not only will you find a wide range of quality fashion there, from brands like Lies Mertens and Atelier Content, but also fun decoration and cosmetics. Feeling hungry during your visit? You can count on La Bottega for that too! Their cosy bistro is definitely worth a visit. In other words, the concept store gives you a shopping experience that will linger for a long time.
Lynn Mikolajczak, founder & CEO van The Acquired
Curious about the rest of Hasselt’s local shop addresses? Get inspired by the new COSH! roadmap! You will not only find 12 more sustainable shopping addresses and 7 second-hand shops on it, but also 39 restoration points! You can find the map online or pick it up for free at Visit Hasselt, Modemuseum Hasselt, Galerij de Ware Vrienden, Z33 and the participating shops.
