De Kringloper is a socially driven organisation in the Netherlands, active since 1984. What began as a volunteer initiative has grown into a professional network of thrift centres that combine sustainability with social purpose. Its mission is clear: to give usable goods a second life and offer practical work experience through its KANS job training programme.
Across its various locations — ranging from repair workshops to retail outlets — items are carefully collected, restored and sold. These include furniture, electronics, household goods, bicycles, clothing and more. Quality is key, ensuring that second-hand items are ready for long-term use in a new home.
The organisation partners with local municipalities, reintegration services and care providers to increase social impact. People with limited access to the job market follow personalised work pathways, aimed at moving them toward paid employment or further education.
De Kringloper operates with a professional yet welcoming tone. Donated items can be dropped off without an appointment, or picked up free of charge. All proceeds directly support the organisation’s social goals. De Kringloper brings together the values of a circular economy, local involvement and real work opportunities — under one roof.
