Fashion Revolution Belgium is part of the world’s largest fashion activism movement. It was founded after the collapse of the Rana Plaza building in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 24 April 2013. More than 1,100 workers were killed and more than 2,500 injured at the time. It is one of the biggest industrial disasters in history, commemorated every year since Fashion Revolution was founded in 2014 during Fashion Revolution Week. That takes place annually in the week around 24 April.
As the Belgian branch of Fashion Revolution, Fashion Revolution Belgium brings people together to work for a more transparent fashion industry, prioritising people and planet over profit and growth. The Belgian non-profit organisation was founded in 2018 and has a special interest in communication, (European) legislation and education. Fashion Revolution Belgium’s team consists of volunteers from Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, Hasselt, and Namur.
