Zeepzot is all about local soaps with original scents, which are good for humans, animals and the planet. In 2021, Layla started experimenting with solid soaps and shampoo bars. This quickly led to an original collection that really appeals to the imagination. She has also since been awarded the ‘Handmade in Brugge’ label and she says it’s her mission to make a traditional product, like solid soap, cool and trendy again. Through collaborations with local businesses and by using products local to Bruges, Layla has created a line of soaps with at times surprising scents. Anyone for a body scrub made from coffee grinds? Or a hand soap that smells of Belgian beer?
All Zeepzot soaps are completely vegan, environmentally friendly and made using the cold process method ensuring her soaps are gentle on the skin and don’t contain any harsh chemicals. Even the packaging is made from recycled paper! Head to her online shop to check out the selection.
Layla also gives workshops on a regular basis. During a workshop on circular soap making, you can discover how to make cold process soap from local food industries’ waste. You’ll then be able to enjoy your very own local vegan soaps. Register for a workshop via her website.
