On 20 September, millions of people worldwide roll up their sleeves for the year’s largest cleanup event.
World Cleanup Day is a global citizens’ movement that tackles litter from the ground up. In 2024, more than 22 million people joined in. In Germany alone, over 600,000 people participated, and each year, the goal gets more ambitious.
The idea? One day, thousands of local cleanups, a powerful global wave of awareness and action. Schools, companies, municipalities, NGOs and individuals join forces. Whether you pick up a few cans during a walk or organise a big group action, every piece of litter removed counts.
What makes this initiative stand out? It’s about people power. By taking part, you raise awareness and create change where it matters most: on your street, in your park, or in your community.
Want to take part? Register your own cleanup or join one in your area via their website.
