When founder Miguel was sent a pair of period pants in 2020, nobody really knew what they were. In the Netherlands, the product was still almost unheard of. Co-founder Claire van Beek tried them out and never looked back. That first encounter grew into Moodies: a Dutch brand of period underwear.
What makes good period pants is the quality of the gusset. That is where Moodies puts most of its time. The gusset is built from technical layers that absorb and spread moisture, with a fabric that feels dry against the skin. Together with the fit, it is what customers are most often positive about. There are six absorbency levels, from light (roughly one tampon) to heavy overnight, so you can choose per day or per moment.
The range started with period underwear for women and girls and has grown considerably since. It includes hipsters, hiphuggers, boyshorts, lace styles and, recently added, three thongs. The laser-cut thong stays invisible under tight clothing. The lace version is for when you want to feel beautiful, and the bamboo thong feels soft during sport. Moodies also makes period swimwear (swimsuits, bikinis and boxers), styles for pregnancy and the postpartum period, and a separate Everyday line for light incontinence and discharge.
The pants are made from bamboo viscose, nylon and recycled nylon. All fabrics are certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100: they have been tested for more than one hundred regulated harmful substances, such as heavy metals and certain allergens.
Because period pants are washable and reusable, fewer disposable products end up in the bin. One Moodies bamboo Bikini Undie Light, worn over 36 cycles (about three years), replaces around 150 disposable sanitary pads. Moodies also donates pants to organisations working to tackle period poverty. By the end of May 2026, that came to 3,728 pairs.
Moodies is mainly sold online. In the Netherlands, the pants are also stocked by around twenty lingerie shops and drugstores, and they are available on Wehkamp and Bol.com. In Belgium, Veritas is the exclusive retail partner.
