The Modestraat in Amsterdam-Noord is a creative hub and a great meeting place for the neighbourhood. Everyone is welcome to participate in the creative workshops that are regularly organised. There is an exchange boutique where you can exchange clothes or, if you don’t have your own clothes, buy them for small prices. In the sewing workshop you will learn how to turn ‘old’ clothing into something new and unique. At the other studios, both artists and social entrepreneurs have a workplace.
The Modestraat functions as a neighbourhood lab and besides the artistic projects in which everyone is involved, it remains also an important meeting place for all. Neighbours come together every day in the cosy living room café Bakkie Noord for a cup of coffee or freshly made (vegetarian) lunch. The atmosphere at Modestraat is accessible, colourful and creative where everyone can feel at home.
