Iris Nijenhuis is a jewellery designer from Amsterdam and makes unique jewellery from textiles. Her innovative designs are modular, which means that the different pieces of textile are put together like a puzzle, without fasteners such as glue. The pieces of textile are cut with a laser cutter and then put together by Iris herself. The entire design and production process takes place in her atelier in the centre of Amsterdam.
The jewellery is made of different materials, such as vegan leather, spacer fabric or scuba. She chose these materials very consciously, as the laser cutter works best with these materials and can therefore offer them the best quality. In addition, Iris also offers repairs, since the ‘puzzle pieces’ in her jewellery are modular and easily replaceable.
