In a fashion industry driven by synthetic shortcuts and harmful dyeing methods, ILANGA is leading a new path forward. Based in Amsterdam, ILANGA transforms food waste into plant-based, toxin-free pigments – offering a more sustainable alternative for coloring textiles and garments.
It all started with a simple question: how is clothing dyed? Curious and concerned, the founder Igor began researching the process, only to discover a long and harmful chain of synthetic chemicals. Determined to find a better way, ILANGA started experimenting with natural colours made from food waste like onion skins, avocado peels, and spent coffee grounds.
Today, ILANGA works with scientists and textile companies to develop and refine plant-based pigment systems that are both high-performing and scalable. Each color is tested for fade resistance, wash durability, and UV exposure, ensuring it meets the needs of modern brands.
ILANGA offers natural dyeing services for new textiles, finished garments, and unsold inventory — making it easy for brands and designers to integrate more sustainable dyeing into every step of the production cycle.
From re-dyeing overstock to developing custom pigments for large-scale manufacturing, ILANGA is helping the industry rethink how color is made.
This is not just dyeing — it’s a redesign of how fashion is made.
