Craft Knowledge, Carried Forward
During Dutch Design Week 2026, Studio Samayam brings together eight makers in the group exhibition Stories Through Design at Grand Café De Lichttoren, the former Philips light bulb factory in the heart of Eindhoven. The exhibition asks three questions: why do we design, who do we design for, and whose hands, land and knowledge are behind every object?
COSH! member Fifth Origins presents What We Carry Forward. The work explores how traditional craft knowledge can find a place in contemporary life without losing its roots. Fifth Origins works with artisan partners in Kullu, Kutch and Bengal, using handwoven wool, Kala cotton, Ajrakh block printing, Rabari embroidery and Kantha stitching. Each piece is shaped by the place, memory and material it comes from.
Visitors can also see work by Studio Samayam, House of Thinai, Surmeyi, Ping Chen, Cottage Disco, Ritika Kedia and Studio Nuna. The pieces range from furniture inspired by Lambadi needlework to resist-dyed garments and hand-painted tables from Shekhawati.
