In this 6‑week embroidery course, you will have extensive time to learn various free hand embroidery stitches. Whether you like to embroider a flower, letters or other shapes, at Studio Koekoek you will be fine. This will be your weekly moment to unwind. Meet new people while creating something beautiful and learning new skills. The course is suitable for complete beginners, but you can also join as a more experienced embroiderer to meet fellow embroidery enthusiasts.
What you will learn in this course
- During this course, you will learn to embroider on different garments and fabrics.
- Each session will focus on a different stitch. And then you will have plenty of time to practise before we move on to the next one.
- We will cover at least the following stitches (but depending on the group, we may also cover some other surprise stitches):
- Satin stitch
- French knot
- Chain stitch
- Back stitch
- Stem stitch
- Long and short stitch
- Blanket stitch
- Herringbone stitch
- Loop stitch
The course will also cover various tips and tricks:
- How to start embroidering without buttons
- Recommended materials to embroider on different fabrics. You will learn what works best for which fabric.
- How to transfer a pattern to your fabric with Solufix.
- How to transfer a pattern to your fabric with transfer paper?
- How to draw a pattern directly on the fabric
Materials:
- Bring your own garments! Bring your own hat, bag, cap, blouse or T‑shirt that you would like to embroider. You can even bring a pair of shoes if you like. It is recommended that you bring at least one garment of tightly woven fabric and one garment of knitted fabric.
- During the sessions, you will work with different threads, ranging from embroidery thread to embroidery wool.
- The embroidery materials you use during the workshop are included in this price. If you want to continue practising at home, you can buy additional supplies at the studio.
