WORKING CONDITIONS & LIVING WAGES
Saint Muze produces exclusively in the Netherlands, mainly in Amsterdam, partly in its own atelier and with a small number of freelance seamstresses. This local production eliminates long transportation routes and there is close, direct communication with the producers, which in turn simplifies fair and safe working conditions. Risks such as a lack of social security or uncontrolled working standards are low in the Netherlands. Working closely with a small number of selected producers enables regular personal contact and transparency.
The products are handmade and based on the upcycling of vintage and deadstock materials.
Saint Muze is inclusive in its brand representation, emphasizes values such as gender equality and anti-racism and communicates an open, diverse brand identity.
MATERIALS
- Vintage and deadstock materials (including denim, sportswear materials, leather)
Saint Muze mainly uses vintage and deadstock materials, which are considered to be particularly resource-friendly as they do not require the production of new raw materials and keep existing materials in circulation.
Denim is also used in a more environmentally friendly way through upcycling, as the production of new cotton fabrics – especially denim – is very water- and energy-intensive.
The situation is similar with recycled sportswear materials such as synthetic functional fabrics, where the use of new, petroleum-based fibers is avoided through reuse.
Leather is used from existing stocks (e.g. from used bags), which requires fewer resources and chemicals than newly produced leather.
Processing is carried out by hand, which enables careful selection and quality control of all components used.
PACKAGING
Saint Muze uses recycled plastic mailers.
WATER USAGE & CHEMICALS
The exclusive use of vintage and deadstock materials indirectly saves resources such as water and energy, as no new fabric production is necessary. This way of working also reduces the use of new dyeing, printing or bleaching processes, which potentially also minimizes the discharge of chemicals and microplastics.
CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN
Saint Muze mainly uses upcycled materials, including vintage textiles, deadstock fabrics, denim and recycled sportswear materials. These often consist of material blends and are therefore more difficult to recycle at the end of their life cycle, as plant and synthetic fibers are often combined.
A take-back service for used products is not offered.
Repairs are possible on request by e‑mail. The products are handmade and produced in small quantities, which means that repairs are generally feasible. Special circular design tactics such as modular construction or easy disassembly are not mentioned.

TRANSPORTATION
- Saint Muze’s supply chain is locally orientated, as production takes place in Amsterdam and with a few freelance seamstresses in the Netherlands. This means that transport routes within production are short.
- Saint Muze ships orders worldwide directly from the Netherlands. Orders are dispatched by PostNL or collected from the studio.
- Leather (for bags, from existing stocks or used products, e.g. second-hand or deadstock leather)
Saint Muze obtains animal materials exclusively from used or existing sources in order to avoid new leather production.
PRODUCT DESIGN
Saint Muze offers products for adults, including clothing and bags. The pieces are geared towards all genders and reflect a streetwear aesthetic with sporty and urban influences. As many pieces are one-offs or small series made from upcycled materials, available sizes may vary. The collections are stylistically diverse and gender-neutral.
SLOW FASHION PROCESSES
Saint Muze does not have a fixed collection rhythm, but works with an established collection that is continuously supplemented with new designs, often as exclusive drops or one-off pieces.
The brand focusses on the sale of limited, handmade items.
Made-to-order is possible, especially for customised or made-to-measure items as part of the upcycling approach.
TRANSPARENCY ON PRODUCT
Saint Muze’s product pages typically display the product name, available sizes and general brand philosophy. There is information on delivery and return conditions as well as dispatch times. In some cases, information is provided on packaging, but there are no specific details on the materials used, countries of production or the supply chain of the individual item. The traceability of individual products is therefore limited – buyers cannot trace exactly where their specific item was produced or what materials it is made of in detail, apart from the general information that upcycling and deadstock are used. However, the website generally communicates that the products are handmade and produced in small quantities.
TRANSPARENCY ON PROCESSES
Saint Muze only provides limited information on its production processes and suppliers. Information on specific cost calculations is not provided. The available information is mainly found on general pages of the website and refers to the use of upcycled and deadstock materials as well as artisanal production, but without providing detailed traceability for individual products. An annual report on social or environmental aspects is not published.
