WORKING CONDITIONS & WAGES 

Lies Wambacq’s jewellery is produced entirely in Leuven, Belgium, where her studio and shop are based. Local production allows her to oversee the entire manufacturing process herself. She works closely with a small team of experienced specialists, including a fellow goldsmith, a stone setter, a diamond cutter and a gemmologist. This close collaboration ensures fairer working conditions, short communication lines and a high level of transparency.

As production takes place entirely in Belgium, European labour and safety standards apply, effectively eliminating risks such as exploitation or unsafe working environments.

Lies Wambacq promotes local craftsmanship and contributes to strengthening the regional artisan sector. Her team is small. The atmosphere is inclusive and family-like, which is also reflected in the individual attention given to each customer.

MATERIALS

• Recycled silver
• Recycled 18K gold
• Pearls
• Gemstones

Recycled silver and gold are considered more resource-efficient, as no new raw material extraction is required. Gemstones and pearls are selected individually for each piece of jewellery, often in collaboration with experienced specialists. Gemstones are purchased with a certificate where available. Some of the stones come from antique jewellery sourced from an antiques dealer.

As Lies Wambacq works and produces in Belgium, there are no risks related to problematic supply chains.

PACKAGING 

• For shipping, Lies Wambacq uses paper packaging and reused cardboard boxes from her own deliveries. Packaging material within the supply chain is minimal.

WATER USE & CHEMICALS 

Lies Wambacq uses traditional goldsmithing techniques, in particular the lost-wax method.

Casting and metalworking do involve chemical substances such as flux and polishing agents; however, work takes place in a small studio, keeping consumption controlled and manageable.

CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN 

Gold and silver are inherently easy to melt down, making them particularly circular materials. Both metals can be recycled virtually indefinitely without any loss of quality. This allows old jewellery pieces to be melted down and reworked into new designs, a principle Lies Wambacq actively applies in her studio to keep materials in circulation and avoid waste.

CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODEL 

Lies Wambacq offers a repair service for her jewellery pieces. Customers can bring damaged or altered pieces directly to her studio to have them repaired or adjusted. All work is carried out in her own studio, enabling close collaboration and careful quality control throughout.

Lies Wambacq regularly uses old gold and melted-down materials, practising a circular approach in which existing resources are put to continued use.

• As Lies Wambacq produces exclusively in Belgium and works with local partners, transport distances within the supply chain are very short. Materials such as recycled silver, gold and gemstones are sourced directly from trusted specialists, resulting in low emissions compared to international supply chains.
• Shipping takes place directly from the studio. For local deliveries, Lies Wambacq delivers orders personally by bicycle. For greater distances, bpost or Mikropakket is used.

There is no precise information available regarding the exact origin or method of extraction of the pearls used.

PRODUCT DESIGN 

Lies Wambacq designs a wide range of jewellery, from engagement and wedding rings to family and memorial jewels that reflect personal stories and emotions.

The brand focuses on individual commissions and bespoke work, with each piece tailored to the customer.

SLOW FASHION PROCESSES 

Lies Wambacq does not follow classic seasonal collections. Instead, she maintains an existing collection that she gradually expands with new designs. Many of her pieces are created as one-off commissions or made to measure for individual customers.

The brand offers timeless, unique pieces whose value remains independent of seasons or fashion trends.

As all jewellery pieces are handcrafted in her own studio in Leuven, their traceability is exceptionally high. Customers know exactly where their jewellery was made. However, no further digital tracking or product passport is currently offered.
