PRODUCTION LOCATIONS
- Serbia
- Belgium
WORKING CONDITIONS & LIVING WAGES
The choice of Serbia as a production location is based on the local tradition of craftsmanship and shoemaking, which enables high-quality products, as well as Griet’s deep understanding of the country and its close, trusting relationships with employees and suppliers.
The company emphasises transparent and fairer cooperation. The collaboration is described as informal.
Griet travels to Serbia three times a year to visit her production facilities and maintain personal contact with the employees, thus fostering a close relationship.
All products are handmade and show traditional craftsmanship.
Griet works with two tanneries in Serbia and a leather supplier in Italy.
Griet also has a workshop in its shop in Kortrijk.
MATERIALS
- Leather
Leather is a natural animal fibre that is characterised by its durability and longevity. Due to its breathable and adaptable properties, it has been used for centuries for clothing, shoes and accessories. What do you know about the environmental impact of leather? Read more in our article.
PACKAGING
It does not provide any information about possible packaging materials within the supply chain or in e‑commerce.
WATER USAGE & CHEMICALS
The company uses naturally tanned leather, but does not provide any details on the specific tanning process.
In Serbia, the leather is finished using laser printing to enable customised designs. Although this technology offers the potential to reduce the use of traditional printing inks, there is no information on chemical consumption, possible emissions or the energy efficiency of the process.
CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN
As only leather is processed and no other materials are mentioned, it can be assumed that the products are mono-materials. This can simplify recyclability in specialised cycles.
A take-back system for discarded products is not documented.
The exclusive use of leather can make repairs easier in principle, but it remains unclear whether the company offers or promotes such services itself.
CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODEL
There is no information on repair services, possible cooperation with repair workshops or the costs of such services. Similarly, no take-back system is documented that would enable the return of worn or damaged products for reuse, repair or recycling. Other circular business models such as rental, resale or modular product design are also not mentioned.
DISTANCE & COMPLEXITY OF SUPPLY CHAIN

- The headquarters are located in Kortrijk, Belgium
TRANSPORTATION
There is no information available on the transport methods.
- Leather
- Serbia
- Italy
Some of the leather used for the collections comes from Serbia. Griet personally selects the material in two tanneries there, which gives her a certain amount of control over the quality and origin. The specially printed leather with patterns and drawings is imported from Italy.
The leather is tanned naturally, but there are no details about the tanning agents used or the exact process.
In Serbia, the leather is finished with a laser printer to realise individual designs.
Despite this careful selection of materials, the leather used does not have any certifications and there is a lack of in-depth insight into the ecological and social responsibility along the entire supply chain.
PRODUCT DESIGN
Lazoulli offers a diverse selection of handmade products that are characterised by their individual design. The range includes leather shoes for men and women, handbags made from the same leather, scarves and other accessories.
SLOW FASHION PROCESSES
The brand appears to have an existing collection to which new designs are gradually added. It is therefore not a classic seasonal collection, but rather a continuous range with additions.
There are no indications of made-to-measure or made-to-order production.
TRANSPARENCY ON PRODUCT
Lazoulli only describes the product design on its product pages. COSH! would like to see more transparency in the future, particularly with regard to the materials used and information on origin, to enable more conscious consumers to make an informed decision.
TRANSPARENCY AT THE PROCESS LEVEL
On its website, Lazoulli provides general information about the production process and its carefully selected suppliers. In personal conversations, the founder Griet openly shares details about production and working conditions. No information on the traceability of individual products is provided on the website.
COSH! would like to see more transparent communication in the future to give customers more insight into the products and enable them to make more conscious purchasing decisions.
