WORKING CONDITIONS & WAGES
Bangladesh, India and Kenya are among the countries with traditionally high risks in fashion production. Indilisi addresses these risks by working exclusively with certified Fair Trade partners.
Indilisi works with a small, manageable number of long-standing partners. Founder Safia Minney has maintained relationships with her partners in Bangladesh for over 30 years and is closely involved in product development.
All products are handmade at certified social enterprises.
One of the enterprises is a WFTO member and employs 200 marginalized women. A workshop in Kenya empowers over 80 people with disabilities through jewelry craftsmanship.
Another partner runs literacy programs, health promotion initiatives, and support services for victims of domestic violence.
The brand’s focus is clearly on empowering marginalized groups in the countries of production.
MATERIALS
- Organic cotton (pesticide-free, handwoven)
- Recycled cotton (GRS-certified)
- Merino wool (mulesing free)
- Mother-of-pearl
- Coconut shells
- Brass
- Silver-plated metal
PACKAGING
- Within the supply chain, finished garments are packed in paper bags.
- Indilisi uses plastic-free paper envelopes, printed with soy-based inks.
WATER USE & CHEMICALS
Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or chemicals, meaning soils, groundwater and ecosystems are protected, and farm workers and their families are not exposed to harmful substances. The indian factory reportedly follows gold-standard practices in water management and minimises water use in production. Wastewater is treated and returned to the cycle.
As Indilisi uses no synthetic materials, microplastic release during washing is not a relevant concern for the brand.
CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN
Indilisi primarily uses mono-materials, which is a significant advantage in terms of circularity, as mono-materials are potentially easier to recycle than blended fabrics.
No repair service or take-back service for worn garments is offered.
Surplus fabrics are reused internally or offered for sale to reduce material waste. The brand has a collection made from GRS-certified recycled cotton sourced from factory offcuts.
CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODEL
The company does not offer a repair service, take-back service or other circular methods.
What the brand does communicate clearly is its approach to longevity through timeless design and high-quality craftsmanship, which can fundamentally reduce the need for repairs or replacement.

The style of the collection is deliberately timeless and minimalist, with a focus on classic cuts that can be worn regardless of seasonal trends.
SLOW FASHION PROCESSES
Indilisi releases two collections per year. The brand favours timeless classics over trend-driven fast fashion and produces in small quantities.
