Fitplanet supports local and ethical trade. That is why, whenever possible, they manufacture in Spain and Portugal.
Currently the workshops with which they manufacture are located in Pineda de Mar (swimsuits and bikinis), Porto (leggings, tops, sweatshirts), Sabadell (sports pants) and Burgos (socks).
Although it still has stock of its previous production in Fujian (China), where they have ethically manufactured in a factory that has the strictest safety and emission control measures and certified by Amfori BSC and GRS.
All its sportswear is made of REPREVE® fabric. This fabric is made from recycled materials, such as plastic bottles rescued from the environment, which through an industrial process are ground, melted and reformulated into pellets.
The pellets are melted and extracted into recycled fiber. This fiber is used to make the fabric, which meets high quality standards: moisture management, thermal regulation, odor control, cushioning and elasticity; for reliable, long-lasting quality.
In addition, they have sent their garments to the REPREVE® laboratory and upon analysis, they have received the UNIFI® U‑TRUST® certificate, which certifies that their fabrics are made from recycled plastic bottles.
For other products such as sweatshirts, T‑shirts and tote bags, they use organic fabrics such as organic cotton or jute.
At Fitplanet they give a second life to waste (plastic bottles rescued from the environment) by reconverting them into sportswear. Even so, they are aware that there will come a time when the garments they manufacture will become waste again.
For this reason, they have created workshops that anyone can do at home to reconvert their leggings and tops into other accessories.
FITPLANET aims to support local trade and therefore, whenever possible, manufactures its products in Spain and Portugal. This is achieved through a short production chain, which involves working with local workshops located in different cities such as Pineda de Mar, Porto, Sabadell and Burgos.
Working with nearby workshops reduces the carbon footprint associated with transporting the products and supports the local economy by creating jobs in these regions. In addition, working with local workshops allows them to have greater control over the quality and production of their products.
FITPLANET is a vegan brand!
Although recycled fabric is helping to solve a real problem, FITPLANET is aware that synthetic fibers can release microfibers when washed.
Therefore, in order to make a sustainable use of their garments, FITPLANET recommends washing their garments in short washing programs, with cold water and with an anti-micro plastic washing bag. These bags are used to put any garment inside and prevent the fibers that come off from ending up in the water.
For FITPLANET, transparency is key, which is why it displays clear and accurate information about its production costs and margins. In FITPLANET they want sustainability to be within everyone’s reach, and that price is not a decisive reason to end up buying conventional clothing.
They are also committed to support local commerce as much as they can, to continue learning and evolving, to continue raising awareness, to continue investing in R&D&I and to put all their efforts towards a better future, not only for the planet but also for the people who make FITPLANET possible.
