Corporate social responsibility is very important to Cottover. The brand is aware that its activity can have an impact on the environment and on people. Therefore, it actively works to improve working conditions, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the use of organic materials. The brand invites its customers to choose a more sustainable lifestyle. Cottover strives to put eco-responsibility at the centre of their business by adhering to and collaborating with several certificates.
The brand has signed the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh which ensures the safety of workers in their workplaces. This agreement works on fire prevention. The brand also works with producers who comply with the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) which improves the social performance of their supply chain, advocates fair wages, and prohibits child labour. The majority of the items contain cotton. Because of this, the brand has the OEKO-TEX certificate which guarantees that the final product does not contain hazardous chemicals and is compliant with European chemicals legislation (REACH).
So you’ll be safe in your clothes. Cottover also offers Nordic Ecolabel certified products that take into account the environmental impact of the product from manufacture to use. The ecolabel also sets requirements for working conditions. Cottover products are also Fairtrade certified. The brand uses Fairtrade cotton because producers receive a minimum price for their cotton. The brand actively works to ensure good working conditions. The GOTS certificate guarantees that the cotton is organic and the polyester is recycled, but it also ensures that environmental and social requirements are met. Indeed, the polyester is certified by RCS or GRS, which is allowed to be used in a GOTS-certified cotton blend.
Materials
“Wear your convictions” is the slogan of Cottover. All products are ecological and fair trade. For example, the children’s T‑shirts are made of 100% fair trade cotton. This is also the case for the adult T‑Shirts and tote bags. In addition, they will not release microplastics during washing. The women’s and men’s hoodies and crew necks are 80% Fairtrade cotton and 20% recycled polyester. The cups are 96% Fairtrade cotton and 4% elastane for comfort. At COSH! we prefer when items are made of a single material, as it makes recycling easier.
Since the items are made from organic materials and the brand has the Oeko-Tex 100 certificate and complies with REACH legislation, there will be no harmful chemicals in your item. A great gift for people and the environment.
Circular Economy
Thanks to its timeless look and the quality of the articles, you can wear your Cottover clothes many times and for many events. In most cases, Cottover offers items made of 100% Fairtrade cotton. These items are therefore biodegradable at the end of their life. In addition, cotton is a natural material that is easily recyclable. However, items such as hats and some T‑shirts have synthetic fibres and will not be as easy to recycle as products made from 100% of the same fibres.
Animal wellbeing
Cottover is a vegan brand. No materials derived from animals have been used, except perhaps for the vlieseline present in the collars of the shirts. Though we don’t know for sure.
Slow Fashion
Nothing is more slow fashion than good, timeless basics. These items can easily be mixed with items you already own. There are 14 colours to choose from. Choose the colour that best suits you or your company and its values.
Supply Chain
The supply chain is quite long! This is a brand based in Europe but producing in Asia. We don’t know the exact locations of production and we don’t have the number of employees involved in the manufacturing process. We believe that the cotton is grown in Bangladesh or India and that the finished products are assembled on the same continent. Perhaps the brand can look into the Clean Shipping Index, an independent labeling system that suggests more sustainable ships for its shipping.
