How sustainable is Osprey?
This screening has been done by Fairify
Osprey is an American backpack brand that was founded in California in 1974. The brand claims that sustainability is of paramount importance, but doesn’t publish a sustainability report and provides little to no information on its website. On the upside, Osprey does offer a lifetime warranty and encourages reuse of its backpacks.
The company is not transparent about its supply chain, material use and material origins. It uses the standards of the Ethical Trading Initiative for its Code of Conduct, but it’s not clear to what extent employee rights, such as freedom of association, collective bargaining and paying a living wage, are upheld throughout its supply chain.
