Fabi­en­ne Chapo­t’s head office is loca­ted in Ams­ter­dam. Here, the coll­ec­tions are desi­gned by the in-house design team. For pro­duc­tion, the brand works with seve­ral manu­fac­tu­r­ers in Chi­na, India, Tur­key, Por­tu­gal, Mace­do­nia, Ita­ly and Morocco.

Fabi­en­ne Chapot only works with pro­duc­tion part­ners who are mem­bers of BSCI (Busi­ness Social Com­pli­ance Initia­ti­ve). This is an orga­ni­sa­ti­on that helps com­pa­nies build an ethi­cal sup­p­ly chain. This includes che­cking pro­duc­tion sites for ethi­cal working con­di­ti­ons and fair pay.

In the future, Fabi­en­ne Chapot also plans to check fur­ther sup­pli­ers such as fabric fac­to­ries, dye­ing plants and prin­ting plants. Moreo­ver, the brand signed the Dutch Sus­tainable Clot­hing and Tex­ti­les Agree­ment in 2018. The estab­lished poli­cy around this was also included in their code of con­duct.

Final­ly, the fashion brand col­la­bo­ra­tes with Dutch cha­ri­ty 46Dresses. This is an orga­ni­sa­ti­on that fights pover­ty by giving women in finan­ci­al­ly vul­nerable situa­tions a new wardrobe.

Fabi­en­ne Chapot uses a varie­ty of mate­ri­als in their clot­hing. Some of the­se are not sus­tainable, such as poly­es­ter, con­ven­tio­nal cot­ton, vis­co­se and elas­t­a­ne. Howe­ver, the brand is com­mit­ted to incre­asing­ly repla­cing the­se mate­ri­als with more sus­tainable alternatives.

The brand also opts for orga­nic cot­ton in seve­ral garm­ents. The cot­ton has the Glo­bal Orga­nic Tex­ti­le Stan­dard (GOTS) which indi­ca­tes that at least 95% of the mate­ri­al must be orga­nic. Orga­nic means that no che­mi­cals are used in the cot­ton’s pro­duc­tion process.

Final­ly, Fabi­en­ne Chapot also uses a lot of vis­co­se in their coll­ec­tions. This is a semi-syn­the­tic mate­ri­al based on vege­ta­ble raw mate­ri­als. Unfort­u­na­te­ly, this mate­ri­al does not have a sus­tainable pro­duc­tion pro­cess. The­r­e­fo­re, Fabi­en­ne Chapot wants to replace this mate­ri­al with Eco­vero Vis­co­se. This is a sus­tainable vis­co­se varie­ty from the manu­fac­tu­rer Lenzing. The mate­ri­al is more sus­tainable as no che­mi­cals can be released due to the clo­sed-loop pro­duc­tion pro­cess. Also, the raw mate­ri­als come from sus­tain­ab­ly mana­ged forests and the pro­cess uses less water than that of regu­lar viscose.

Sin­ce Fabi­en­ne Chapot often uses a blend of dif­fe­rent mate­ri­als in its clo­thes, the brand is less cir­cu­lar. This actual­ly makes it much more dif­fi­cult to recy­cle the clo­thes after use. 

The Dutch brand does want to pro­mo­te cir­cu­lar busi­ness models and the­r­e­fo­re col­la­bo­ra­tes with the clot­hing libra­ry Spin­ning Clo­set. This way, you can also rent your favou­ri­te dress ins­tead of buy­ing it!

Fabi­en­ne Chapot does not have a short sup­p­ly chain as pro­duc­tion takes place at dif­fe­rent fac­to­ries in India, Chi­na and Tur­key. The brand also works with sup­pli­ers in Mace­do­nia, Ita­ly, Por­tu­gal and Moroc­co.

Fabi­en­ne Chapot coll­ec­tions con­tain ani­mal mate­ri­als such as wool and lea­ther. The brand uses only mule­sing-free wool. This means no skin is cut away from the ani­mals, a pain­ful prac­ti­ce used to pre­vent para­si­te infections.

Other ani­mal-unfri­end­ly mate­ri­als are ban­ned from the coll­ec­tions. For exam­p­le, the brand does not use fur, ango­ra, mohair, down or exo­tic ani­mal spe­ci­es. As for the lea­ther used in the access­ories the­re is unfort­u­na­te­ly no infor­ma­ti­on.

Fabi­en­ne Chapot makes colourful and powerful women’s fashion. This also includes access­ories, shoes and bags. The brand laun­ches a new coll­ec­tion twice a year, which is sold in almost 1,000 shops worldwide.

The brand aims to put the spot­light on women with colourful, cheerful and bold out­fits. The prints are always desi­gned by hand to crea­te uni­que designs. The coll­ec­tion fea­tures ever­y­thing from dres­ses and jackets to car­di­gans and trou­sers. The brand also offers a six-month war­ran­ty on every purchase.
