HEDO­NE’s ambi­ti­on is to fill all posi­ti­ons wit­hin the com­pany with at-risk youth in the next five years. For this, the brand will orga­ni­se wor­k­shops, men­to­ring and other com­mu­nity acti­vi­ti­es to enga­ge and tra­in the ado­les­cents. Thro­ugh the pro­gram­me, the brand aims to tra­in the young people so that they can build the­ir own busi­ne­sses in the future. 

HEDO­NE also has an bro­ader edu­ca­ti­onal missi­on in mind. Thro­ugh the­ir acti­ons, col­lec­ti­on and wor­k­shops, the brand also wants to edu­ca­te people abo­ut the con­sequ­en­ces of recre­ati­onal drug use.

In addi­ti­on to the­ir own soci­al com­mit­ment, HEDO­NE also wor­ks with ethi­cal sup­pli­ers. The manu­fac­tu­rers are mem­bers of the Fair Wear Foun­da­ti­on (FWF). This is an inde­pen­dent orga­ni­sa­ti­on that moni­tors wor­king and soci­al con­di­ti­ons at pro­du­cers. Than­ks to the leader sta­tus tho­se HEDO­NE sup­pli­ers have, you can be sure that the clot­hes are made in safe and ethi­cal con­di­ti­ons, and that the wor­kers rece­ive fair wages.

The clot­hes are prin­ted in a small pro­duc­ti­on wor­k­shop in the Net­her­lan­ds. The playful and colo­ur­ful desig­ns are hand-prin­ted onto the clot­hes the­re. HEDO­NE wor­ks clo­sely with the ate­li­er to ensu­re that high quality and soci­al stan­dar­ds are met.

HEDO­NE clot­hing is mos­tly made of orga­nic cot­ton. This means that the cot­ton is pro­du­ced wit­ho­ut the use of har­m­ful che­mi­cals. To ensu­re this, HEDO­NE wor­ks with sup­pli­ers that com­ply with the Glo­bal Orga­nic Texti­le Stan­dard (GOTS) cer­ti­fi­ca­te. This cer­ti­fi­ca­te chec­ks the enti­re pro­duc­ti­on pro­cess for the use of che­mi­cals and soci­al con­di­ti­ons. You can recog­ni­se the­se clot­hes by the GOTS label, with T‑shirts con­ta­ining a mini­mum of 95% orga­nic cot­ton and hoodi­es made of a mini­mum of 85% orga­nic cot­ton. A small pro­por­ti­on of recy­cled polyes­ter is also used in the jumpers.

HEDO­NE wor­ks with a Dut­ch part­ner to print the unique desig­ns on the clot­hes. Here, the desig­ns are manu­al­ly prin­ted on the clot­hes using the scre­en­print pro­cess. The stu­dio uses water-based inks for this, which have a much smal­ler envi­ron­men­tal impact that plas­ti­sol inks, for example.

Final­ly, the HEDO­NE col­lec­ti­on also has the OEKO-Tex Stan­dard 100 cer­ti­fi­ca­te. This cer­ti­fi­ca­te guaran­te­es that no che­mi­cals are pre­sent in the final pro­duct. So the clot­hes are com­ple­tely safe to wear!

Clot­hes that con­sist of a mono-mate­ri­al are easi­er to recy­cle, i.e. the gar­ment con­sis­ts of only one mate­ri­al. So jum­pers and T‑shirts made of 100% cot­ton are cir­cu­lar beca­use they can be recy­cled after use.

In prin­ci­ple, orga­nic cot­ton is even biode­gra­da­ble, howe­ver, this does not apply to the HEDO­NE col­lec­ti­on as it also con­ta­ins che­mi­cal inks and dyes.

The HEDO­NE col­lec­ti­on and prints are desig­ned in Rot­ter­dam. The clot­hes are pro­du­ced by a part­ner with pro­duc­ti­on wor­k­shops in Ban­gla­desh and Chi­na, after which the desig­ns are prin­ted in the print stu­dio in the Net­her­lan­ds. So the gar­ments do tra­vel a long dis­tan­ce to get to you. 

To redu­ce the­ir envi­ron­men­tal impact, HEDO­NE’s pro­duc­ti­on part­ner does off­set all the­ir CO2 emi­ssi­ons. The com­pany off­sets emi­ssi­ons from pro­duc­ti­on and all tran­s­port to the Net­her­lan­ds. HEDO­NE may have a long sup­ply cha­in, but this way it is still CO2 neutral!

HEDO­NE uses no ani­mal mate­ri­als in the­ir col­lec­ti­on and is the­re­fo­re com­ple­tely vegan. In fact, the brand is PETA appro­ved vegan! (People for the Ethi­cal Tre­at­ment of Animals)

The clot­hing col­lec­ti­on con­sis­ts of basics with fun prints, for men and women. The T‑shirts, jum­pers, track suits and swe­at­pants are ava­ila­ble in dif­fe­rent colo­urs, always prin­ted with the HEDO­NE logo and colo­ur­ful desig­ns.
