Rese­ar­ch from the Ams­ter­dam Uni­ver­sity of Appli­ed Sci­en­ces reve­als that the ave­ra­ge Dut­ch per­son has aro­und 173 clot­hing items in the­ir war­dro­be, of which abo­ut 50 items have rema­ined unu­sed for over a year. We beli­eve that the Black Fri­day weekend is the per­fect time to dig thro­ugh that full clo­set and, ins­te­ad of buying a lot of new clot­hes and gif­ts, sear­ch for a sus­ta­ina­ble alter­na­ti­ve. The Swap­shop Swap Clot­hes Ins­te­ad of Buying New
The clot­hing indus­try is one of the most pol­lu­ting indus­tri­es in the wor­ld, con­tri­bu­ting to over 10% of glo­bal CO2 emi­ssi­ons. At the same time, we dis­card abo­ut 17 kilo­grams of texti­les per per­son annu­al­ly. It’s time for a chan­ge. Blu­eCity enco­ura­ges Rot­ter­dam resi­dents to dive into the­ir clo­sets and come for a clot­hing swap. Pack your men’s and women’s clot­hing in good con­di­ti­on (items that could still make some­one else hap­py) and bring them to Blu­eCity on Satur­day, Novem­ber 25^th, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The bet­ter the quality, the more Swaps (points) you’ll rece­ive for the clot­hing item. The num­ber of swaps you get per item is 2, 5, 10, or 15 Swaps.
