Poppy Field uses a variety of materials in their collection. Most of these are natural materials such as cotton, linen, viscose and wool. For several years, the brand has been using cotton that has the BCI label (Better Cotton Initiative). This label ensures that the cotton is produced with fewer chemicals and in good social conditions. Poppy Field now wants to switch to GOTS-certified cotton (Global Organic Textile Standard). This cotton is organic and produced without chemicals. This too audits social conditions in production.
In addition, the timeless brand also uses viscose ecovero and cupro in their collection. Ecovero is a sustainable viscose from the manufacturer Lenzing. It is made from wood pulp that comes from sustainably managed forests and therefore has the FSC label (Forest Stewardship Council). Lenzing uses a closed-loop production process to prevent the possible release of chemicals.
Cupro is made in a similar way to viscose, but using cotton scraps instead of wood pulp. This is therefore a sustainable material because it’s made from recycled excess materials. In doing so, Poppy Field guarantees that this material too is produced in a closed loop.
Other natural materials in the Poppy collection include linen, hemp, wool, mohair and soon the brand will add ramie to the collection. Yet, there are also some synthetic materials incorporated into the clothes. This is noticeable in the knitwear collection, where wool is combined with acrylic and polyamide.
Lastly, Poppy Field also takes other actions to improve their sustainability. The brand uses for instancebiodegradable packaging for all their shipments. Additionally, the brand collaborates with the local Balinese non-profit organisation R.O.L.E. The organization strives to prevent ocean pollution by land-based waste. They do this partly by educating local people and reducing the use of plastics
