Liquidflora is an Italian brand that demonstrates strong ethical values. This is evidenced by the ICEA (Certification Institute for Ethics and the Environment) label they carry. ICEA monitors and certifies several thousand companies that operate with respect for people and the environment, protecting the dignity of workers and the rights of consumers. This label shows that all of Liquidflora’s business activity is conducted with respect for people, animals and nature.
Liquidflora uses 100% natural ingredients such as oils, butters, wax from organic plants, blossom waters and color pigments from mineral rocks. The brand is certified organic! The products are free of parabens, silicones, alcohol, petrochemical ingredients, gluten, talc, chemical sunscreens or synthetic color and fragrance.
The brand’s ICEA certification confirms the production of 100% natural cosmetics with certified quality from ingredient to finished product. Cosmetics without synthetic raw materials are safe for use on the skin, biodegradable and do not harm the environment!
Other than the fact that Liquidflora is based in Italy, little is known about the brand’s supply chain.
Liquidflora is Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free! In addition, the Italian brand offers mostly vegan products, with two exceptions: the cream foundations and concealers. These products contain beeswax. The brand carries the VEGAN OK label.
Liquidflora, with its organic cosmetics line, offers an opportunity for those who are sensitive to many makeup products to enter this world. The different shades and colors of the products make the brand widely accessible.
Liquidflora’s several certifications show that the brand is well on its way when it comes to people and the environment. To make it even easier for consumers to understand exactly what the company is doing in terms of sustainability and ethics, we at COSH! would appreciate it if the website also had a general sustainability page and a better understanding of the supply chain.
Are you like Claudia Borghi, the founder of Liquidflora, a true lover of makeup? Then you can probably imagine how desperate Claudia felt when she suddenly couldn’t stand the chemical ingredients in her trusted products. She then looked everywhere for products that might suit her, but they all contained at least one of the ingredients she was allergic to. Thus was born an idea to create cosmetics for herself and anyone who wanted to choose nature.
In 2012, she and her co-founders, Claudio and Valter, presented their first cosmetics line. This made the brand the first certified organic makeup producer in Italy. Meanwhile, you can turn to the brand for your natural blush, lipstick, eye pencil and foundation. Curious about the sustainability of these? We found out for you.
Packaging
Liquidflora’s packaging is made from plant-based bioplastic made from corn, grain, sugar or cellulose, among others, and is completely recyclable. The paper and cardboard used for the packaging, and the wood used for the eye and lip pencils carry the FSC label and come from a mix of recycled paper and paper from sustainably managed forests.
In addition, Liquidflora uses a refill system. The box of eye shadow, for example, can be kept. The empty eyeshadow can be easily clicked out of the box and replaced. Refills are cheaper, require less packaging, take up less space during transport and therefore also have a smaller carbon footprint.
