This Swe­dish brand has been sel­ling inte­ri­or tex­ti­les sin­ce 1879. You can buy blan­kets, plaids, pil­lows, table linen, home access­ories and child­ren’s items.
Each design is both tim­e­l­ess and hip. Klippan pro­mi­ses qua­li­ty by using the sof­test and purest fibres. And for the child­ren, the brand makes spe­cial use of eco and orga­nic wool.

Eco?

One of the mate­ri­als Klippan uses is eco wool. To obtain good wool, many sheep farms tre­at their ani­mals with pesti­ci­des. This is becau­se ver­min can crawl into the fur of the sheep and affect the wool. After years of rese­arch, some shee­pfar­mers came to the con­clu­si­on that it is not neces­sa­ry to tre­at their sheep seve­ral times with pesti­ci­des. This gave rise to eco-wool. They tre­at the new­born sheep once with the neces­sa­ry pro­duct and that should suf­fice for his who­le life. The envi­ron­ment in which the sheep live has also not been trea­ted with dan­ge­rous che­mi­cals and antibiotics. 

Ani­mal wel­fa­re is very important to Klippan. That is why the brand car­ri­es out regu­lar checks on their sup­pli­ers. As a cus­to­mer, you can be sure of cruel­ty free wool. Klippan also has the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 cer­ti­fi­ca­tes. The ISO 9001 is a qua­li­ty manage­ment sys­tem that offers a sys­te­ma­tic approach to orga­ni­sa­ti­ons to achie­ve cus­to­mer objec­ti­ves and always deli­ver qua­li­ty. ISO 14001 is an Envi­ron­men­tal Manage­ment Sys­tem that mea­su­res and impro­ves the envi­ron­men­tal impact of organisations. 

Ethical?

All tex­ti­les are pro­ces­sed by Klippan in their own fac­to­ry in Swe­den. We know from the lamb­s­wool that it comes from New Zea­land. Whe­re the other types of wool come from, such as the Meri­no, cash­me­re, Got­land and the eco wool, is not exact­ly men­tio­ned. What Klippan does release is that the wool is ful­ly traceable to the sheep farms.

Circular?

At Klippan every pie­ce of mono-mate­ri­al is made. Recy­cling their home tex­ti­les could the­r­e­fo­re be pos­si­ble after a long life­span. We at COSH! do not know whe­ther they have any plans for this.
