At i+m you are in the right place for fair, vegan and organic products
This Berlin brand has been marketing natural care products since 1978. In the 1970s, an ecological lifestyle was something unique and exceptional. At that time, founder Inge Stamm (i+m) took on the challenge of making cosmetics using only organically grown raw materials. In order to keep the ecological footprint as small as possible, every extra packaging was gradually removed. With every decision the brand made over the years, it became even more natural and eventually vegan.
Materials and planet
Pure beauty is on the inside
Environmentally conscious, that’s what i+m stands for. All raw materials are produced organically and in an environmentally friendly way. The brand goes one step further with their organic oils. These are always cold pressed and remain untreated. It is almost impossible to get more natural!
The brand is extremely transparent about the products they use. In the care products of i+m naturkosmetik, you will only find ingredients that are grown fair trade oils such as fair argan oil from Morocco, fair avocado oil from Kenya, aromatic coconut oil from India, nourishing olive oil from Palestine, fair shea butter from Uganda, fair almond oil and sweet apricot oil from Pakistan, fair pomegranate oil from Turkey, delicious Sacha Inchi oil from Peru and finally fair cocoa butter from Indonesia. After this list you can conclude that they consider fair as very important.
A heart for their employees
I+m only works with Fairtrade ingredients, and also provide good working conditions for the farmers and workers on the plantations. The cosmetic brand i+m believes equal rights for women are very important, they themselves invest in lessons to teach the Berber women who work on the fair trade plantation in Morocco. Totally heartwarming.
All products are assembled in Germany, under good European working conditions. The packaging is also produced in a short supply chain in Germany in Brandenburg.
All logistics packing and shipping to stores and webshop customers are organized in collaboration with a socio-economic initiative: “Schloss und Gut Liebenberg.” This German tailor-made company helps people with disabilities to integrate into work life and so your i+m purchase also supports them.
In 2014, i+m will open the very first women’s shelter in Zambia. Each year, a quarter of the profit is invested in eco-fair projects. Which development projects do they support? These are chosen with the participation of the i+m employees.
The great commitment to sustainability is rewarded. In both 2019 and 2020, Germany will award them the sustainability award of the year.
I+m focuses on the fair distribution of profit. 10 – 20% of the profits go to their women’s shelter in Zambia. It doesn’t stop there, another 10 – 20% goes to small ecological and social projects. Three examples are Yumig, off the matt into the world and an integration project for young refugees in Berlin. The surplus of the profit is divided equally among the employees of i+m and invested in the further growth of the company.
Animal friendliness
In recent years, honey and beeswax have become a no-go at i+m. I+m is definitely animal-friendly because no testing is done on animals. The Leaping Bunny logo is proudly displayed on the packaging and on the website, which guarantees that the brand is cruelty-free.
Circular packaging
Many cosmetics have double packaging. 1 which envelops the liquid care product and protects it against external influences and a second cardboard packaging purely for advertising and/or which re-lists the ingredients;
The i+m team avoids all this unnecessary packaging and applies zero waste principles as much as possible. The deodorant creams are always in a glass jar with a recyclable metal lid. For them it is important to market recyclable packaging, with a cradle-to-cradle principle.
Nourishing shower gels and natural shampoos are packed per litre, so you can get through longer with one package. Do you want to upgrade your zero waste skills and exclude packaging? Then we have good news for you, the latest shower gels and shampoos come in refill bottles at your favorite natural cosmetics store, which you will soon be able to refill indefinitely.
i+m also work circularly. They try to work according to the cradle-to-cradle principles as much as possible. On the one hand, each new packaging must be made from recycled materials and must also be recyclable into new materials. The new refill bottles are themselves made from recycled plastic.
