Olm­sted is a Cana­di­an luxu­ry outer­wear brand that pro­mo­tes slow fas­hi­on and sti­mu­la­tes the local eco­no­my. All of its pro­ducts are pro­du­ced in Cana­da, which is a low-risk coun­try in terms of wor­kers’ rights, and the brand main­ly uses sustai­na­ble mate­ri­als. The parkas are made from 100% GOTS Cer­ti­fied orga­nic cot­ton and Olm­sted sta­tes that the insu­la­ti­on of the jac­kets con­sists of sustai­na­bly har­ve­sted down of Cana­di­an ori­gin. Unfor­tu­na­te­ly, there’s no affi­li­a­ted qua­li­ty mark to gua­ran­tee this. The brand is not transpa­rent about its emis­si­ons and doesn’t publish a sustai­na­bi­li­ty report, so it’s com­ple­te­ly unclear what its car­bon foot­print is. There’s just too litt­le infor­ma­ti­on avai­la­ble to be able to con­si­der Olm­sted a sustai­na­ble brand.
