Save the Duck is an Ita­li­an outerwe­ar brand foun­ded in 2012. The brand focu­ses heavily on sus­ta­ina­bi­lity, is a B Corp, and dona­tes 1 per­cent of its annu­al reve­nu­es to cha­rity ini­ti­ati­ves that pro­tect ani­mals, people and the environment.

Pro­mo­ting sus­ta­ina­bi­lity thro­ugh transparency

The com­pany sco­res high in ter­ms of tran­s­pa­ren­cy. Its web­si­te offers an annu­al sus­ta­ina­bi­lity report as well as an over­vi­ew of all sup­pli­ers. Con­cer­ning its gar­ments, 69% are made with STAN­DARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® and 40% with Blu­esign® cer­ti­fi­ed mate­ri­als. On top of that, the brand is acti­vely invol­ved in recy­cling mate­ri­als and making pac­ka­ging more sus­ta­ina­ble. Alt­ho­ugh it’s tran­s­pa­rent abo­ut sco­pe 1 and 2, Save the Duck hasn’t ful­ly map­ped its sco­pe 3 car­bon emi­ssi­ons yet. It indi­ca­tes that it’s acti­vely measu­ring the­se emi­ssi­ons in the sup­ply cha­in and com­mits to achi­eve car­bon neutra­lity by 2030 toget­her with the other 500+ B Corp companies.

In need of bet­ter soci­al insu­ran­ce and wor­king hours

Save the Duck tri­es to uphold wor­kers’ rig­h­ts thro­ug­ho­ut its sup­ply cha­in by fol­lowing Amfo­ri BSCI poli­ci­es, but there’s still room for impro­ve­ment. The resul­ts from the sus­ta­ina­bi­lity report show that long wor­king hours and lack of soci­al insu­ran­ce are are­as that need to be looked at.

Vegan and sustainable

The brand is com­ple­tely ani­mal-free and is the­re­fo­re cer­ti­fi­ed as Peta Appro­ved Vegan. Con­si­de­ring the work that is being put in as we spe­ak and its ambi­ti­ons for the futu­re, we have to con­clu­de that Save the Duck is doing great!
