Nudie Jeans sta­tes that they have clo­se dialo­gu­es with the­ir sup­pli­ers, and visi­ted 80% of them in 2024. They sta­te that they have con­ti­nu­ed to sup­port living wage payments at selec­ted sup­pli­ers, and have ambi­ti­ons to ful­fil living wage payments for pri­ori­ti­sed sup­pli­ers by 2030. 

Nudie Jeans also sta­tes that they ensu­re all sup­pli­ers have docu­men­ted high soci­al, ethi­cal, and envi­ron­men­tal ambi­ti­ons, and have sig­ned the­ir Code of Con­duct. Nudie Jeans have been mem­bers of Fair Wear Foun­da­ti­on sin­ce 2009. 93% of Nudie Jeans fibre use in 2024 was cot­ton, and the brand ensu­res that this is always orga­nic and/​or Fair­tra­de, re-used, or recy­cled. Nudie Jeans recen­tly beca­me GOTS cer­ti­fi­ed, and rele­ased the­ir first cer­ti­fi­ed pro­duc­ts in Spring 2025. 

PAC­KA­GING 

Nudie Jeans has eli­mi­na­ted plas­tic shop­ping bags in the­ir physi­cal sto­res, and all bags and gift boxes used in the­ir Repa­ir Shops are made from FSC-cer­ti­fi­ed and recy­cled paper. 

Pro­duc­ts orde­red onli­ne are deli­ve­red in plas­tic bags made from aro­und 40 – 80% recy­cled plas­tics and 60 – 20% vir­gin plas­tics. Nudie Jeans sta­tes that they have exa­mi­ned alter­na­ti­ves but have deci­ded that recy­cled and recy­cla­ble plas­tic is cur­ren­tly the best opti­on, as biode­gra­da­ble mate­ri­als can be dif­fi­cult to pro­per­ly dis­po­se of. 

WATER USA­GE & CHEMICALS 

The vast majo­rity of Nudie Jeans pro­duc­ts are made with orga­nic and/​or Fair­tra­de, reused, or recy­cled cot­ton. Orga­nic cot­ton is grown wit­ho­ut arti­fi­ci­al fer­ti­li­zers or pes­ti­ci­des, and requ­ires less water to pro­du­ce. Using recy­cled and re-used cot­ton also hel­ps Nudie Jeans to redu­ce the­ir water and che­mi­cal usage. 

Nudie Jeans sta­tes that they only work with sup­pli­ers that have pro­per water tre­at­ment plants. The majo­rity of the­ir denim fabric sup­pli­ers are also GOTS cer­ti­fi­ed, to help ensu­re pro­per che­mi­cal mana­ge­ment. 

Nudie Jeans sta­tes that they are aiming to incre­ase the­ir use of vege­ta­ble-tan­ned leat­her, to decre­ase the amo­unt of che­mi­cals used. 

CIR­CU­LAR PRO­DUCT DESIGN 

The majo­rity of Nudie Jeans pro­duc­ts are mono­ma­te­ri­als, meaning that they are easi­er to recy­cle at the end of the­ir lifes­pan. The­ir tig­ht fit jeans are made with a small per­cen­ta­ge of elas­ta­ne, for a more com­for­ta­ble fit.

Nudie Jeans also offers a tra­de-in ser­vi­ce, in exc­han­ge for 20% off your next denim pur­c­ha­se. If possi­ble, the­se jeans are washed, repa­ired if needed, and sold aga­in in the­ir Re-use ran­ge. They are otherwi­se recy­cled and used for pat­c­hing material. 

The recy­cled cot­ton used in Nudie Jeans is pro­du­ced from both post-con­su­mer Nudie Jeans pro­duc­ts and pre-con­su­mer recy­cled cot­ton from the­ir fac­to­ri­es’ was­te streams.

Nudie Jeans has publi­shed an Ani­mal Wel­fa­re Policy, and pro­vi­des fur­t­her infor­ma­ti­on on the­ir fibre usa­ge in the­ir sus­ta­ina­bi­lity report. 

The­ir Ani­mal Wel­fa­re Policy sta­tes that all leat­her used is a by-pro­duct of the food indus­try. A gold-rated cla­ssi­fi­ca­ti­on from the Leat­her Wor­king Gro­up is requ­ired for all leat­her pro­du­cers loca­ted out­si­de Europe. 

Nudie Jeans sta­tes that recy­cled wool is pri­ori­ti­sed when possi­ble. In 2024, the majo­rity of wool used in Nudie Jeans pro­duc­ts was cer­ti­fi­ed GOTS or RWS vir­gin wool, clo­sely fol­lowed by recy­cled wool. 

Nudie Jeans sta­tes that any meri­no wool is cer­ti­fi­ed mule­sing-free. Mule­sing is a con­tro­ver­si­al prac­ti­ce whe­re a small por­ti­on of the sheep’s skin is remo­ved to pre­vent para­si­tic infestations. 

Only GOTS-cer­ti­fi­ed silk or Peace silk is used in Nudie Jeans pro­duc­ts. Peace silk is a cru­el­ty-free alter­na­ti­ve to conven­ti­onal silk, in which the sil­kwor­ms are allowed to com­ple­te the­ir full lifecycle.

Nudie Jeans offers men’s and women’s wear. The­ir jeans have waist sizes from 24 to 38, and len­g­t­hs from 28 to 36. Other gar­ments have sizes from XS to XL. Nudie Jeans also offers a small ran­ge of acce­sso­ri­es to com­ple­te your look! 

SLOW FASHI­ON PROCESSES 

Nudie Jeans sta­tes that they aim to mini­mi­se the volu­me of unsold pro­duc­ts and dead­stock. At the end of the season, unsold gar­ments are sent back to the ware­ho­use, whe­re they are pri­ma­rily sold onli­ne in sales periods.

Excess fabric from pro­duc­ti­on is often used in futu­re col­lec­ti­ons, and Nudie Jeans’ web­si­te has a col­lec­ti­on of limi­ted edi­ti­on pieces made from dead­stock fabric. Alter­na­ti­vely, the­ir excess fabric is sold thro­ugh the plat­form Reko­tex so that it can be used by other companies.

On each pro­duct page, Nudie Jeans bre­aks down the enti­re pro­duc­ti­on pro­cess, from raw mate­ri­al sour­cing to the­ir ware­ho­use in Swe­den. This tool allows users to see which pro­duc­ti­on faci­li­ti­es were invol­ved in making the­ir gar­ment, the­ir loca­ti­ons, and whet­her they have been visi­ted by Nudie Jeans. Nudie Jeans also hig­hlig­h­ts the emi­ssi­ons and water used for the pro­duc­ti­on of each garment.
