Only 50% of the clot­hing sub­mit­ted to The Swap­shop is actu­al­ly swap­ped. The rema­ining 50% of this clot­hing (approxi­ma­tely 13,000 items per year) is of poor quality, worn out, or sim­ply out of fashi­on. The­re­fo­re, this clot­hing is not suita­ble for exchange.

Toget­her with the­ir cha­in part­ners, The Swap­shop is seeking a solu­ti­on to this sub­s­tan­ti­al texti­le sur­plus. In 2024, they will laun­ch the­ir very first solu­ti­on: The Puf­fer. This is a cir­cu­lar lap­top sle­eve made from approxi­ma­tely 50% recy­cled cotton.

In this exhi­bi­ti­on, The Swap­shop takes you thro­ugh the recy­cling pro­cess of the­ir non-exc­han­ge­able clot­hing and intro­du­ces you to the­ir Dut­ch cha­in part­ners, all of whom are pione­ers in the cir­cu­lar texti­le industry.
